its like having a blender that can run off of solar and the wall socket. First running a blender isnt the problem because its used so little. But the new dual power hybrid blender is far more expensive. It lets people say "look what im doing for the world with my new green blender of truth". Not even to bring up the power these cars take to make. Then you have to keep in mind the carbon foot print it takes to make these cars with the composite materials and space age alloys.
its marketing.. nothing more. They build 50 super cars to sell a million eco boxes. Then everyone on the net talks about how great it is and which is better.

The 911 GT3 RSR Hybrid has done a darn good job of bridging that "performance" gap and sounds good (if you like how 911s sound) doing it. (Understanding the application, at present time, is probably better suited for race cars.)
I was not mentally unstable enough to the level I needed to be to get a Carrera so that certainly rules out the hybrid, at least for now.
Flagstang-
I understand the marketing impact, but to deny their performance potential seems a bit close minded . . . at least to me. And not all systems are the same. The GT3 Hybrid uses kinetic energy stored in a flywheel not batteries. I also never thought I would see a 200 MPH Mustang, but as we all know things do change . . . sometimes for the better and sometimes . . . well . . .
If the Prius and its technology are on the "low end" and a 911 GT3 RSR Hybrid (and new NSX) are on the "high end" it seems logical that a nexus is made in the middle . . . at some point and time.
And I too George have considered some other cars as of late, but my mental stability (or lack thereof) has also ruled out those 'other cars.'
