525HP Hennessey Dodge Magnum - WHY??

To me, having a rip-it-up station wagon doesn't make sense, especially at over $60K. But judge for yourself: 2006 Hennessey Magnum SRT500

I definitely like the sleeper aspect of a super fast sedan or wagon, but the hennessey isnt subtle enough to make it work. It's cool and hennessey does some nice work with the D-C cars, but for $60, I could find a lot of other cars I'd rather have.

Ah, a shooting-brake devotee. I too have a soft spot for nasty wagons and, under the odd aventures category, had the pleasure of driving a brand new V70 R at speed on a track once. More fun than the law should allow.

i'm a big fan of fast wagons too. I mean the first car i ever drove was a Mercury Colony Park with the 5.0 and dual exhaust. Okay.. maybe its not that fast, but it sounded **** good. Some day, when my dad gives up on that thing, i'll totally take it off his hands and turn it into something special.

Oh, but a long, long time ago (1995), Renault produced a concept based on the Espace van, powered by their own Formula 1 engine (800 hp V10):

Now, that's something to drive the kids to school in every morning! They'd never be late... (0-60 mph in 2.8 sec!)

I too love the various power wagons floating around out there (V70R, S4 Avants, AMG E55 Wagon, etc.). We grew up on some big-block Country Squires when kids and there's something about a big, powerful wagon that hits a soft spot. The stealth factor is pretty cool too as is the ability to haul ***(ets) as well.

While most will reflexively dismiss any wagon as a mere insipid mommy mobile, those in the know can have the last laugh.
