Ok...so as i read Jeremy Clarksons view on buying an old exotic for pennies on the dollar, i cant help but be enticed....
My price range is...ehh...21-26k (depends on summer wages, ill b picking up alot this summer lol) Now thats a hunk of change to spend on a used car. So my question is......
What kind of sporty exotics could i get in that range (keeping it between 2001-2012 MY)
New body style m3? I absolutely love my friends but the only M3 i can get in my range is that old boxy ugly body![Frown](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Mercedes? Idk where to begin, im lost on the Benz line, i dont evn know what the letter/numbers mean. U guys shud tell me some sporty ones.....
And Audi: i love th new S5, anything like that i could find?
Im asking on here instead of researching because im at hospital and thought itd b nice to just sleep while u guys do the work! >![Big Grin](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Fyi im getting an EKG, echo, and MRI so ill b on randomly, sorry for slow replies....

Well if out of warranty repair costs dont scare you, the there is probably something available from Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and a host of others. Maybe even a very old school Ferrari 308.
IMO, I'd look aroud for a nice used 07-09 GT500

A lot more in torque though. Ensure the fuel pump has been replaced.
Old boxy M3's are still M3's. All of them are drivers cars from the beginning until now.
Remember any exotic comes with exotic parts. And exotic prices, no matter what the vintage. I plan on grabbing up an e39 M5 some day but only when I have room to park it and leave it if I have any issues.
The GT500 is half an exotic. It's more so than some but it's not very exotic. The 2011 is far more exotic than any early S197 Vintage. I may get flamed but to me the early SN95 Cobras and 03-04 Cobra is more exotic than the GT500's.
These guys have listed many cars that I could live with. Even if they are older, it doesn't make them just as much fun and awesome.

If u had to choose cloth V6 stang, 335i , or older M3 what wud u do? I am leaning towards the 335i because of the track times, luxury interior, and turbos. Hell, th 0-60 for those r ridiculous! 5.1 stock, and if u tune the turbos for a higher boost, you could vastly outperform eeven modded S197 Gts.....
Whats your say?

Didn't realize you were so young.
NEW Plan:
Find yourself a mid mileage fun and reliable car (like 1999-2004 V6 Stang) for somewhere around 5k or less.. Save the rest. Keep saving. and keep working. and drive this car for as long as possible. DO that, and you'll be driving an M3 in no time. trust me.

anywho, i have been strongly leaning towards the 335. Its just an all around great machine.... my friend who owns a 2010 M3 got me into the BMW niche and i love it so far. I will still have difficulty choosing between it and a Stang tho hahah
Any experience with one?

Owning a 335i, I can attest to how great a car it can be. The thing is that our household income is six figures. That's the only way I will keep owning higher end cars like this. The 335i can be just as exotic, if not more so than the previous generation M3. There is more tech and more engine in the 335 with the sequential turbos. It truly is a great car. But I went to college in a 93 Chevy Cheyenne. So the feeling of wanting a car is ever lasting, but being able to afford that car is so much more important.
If you really want the 335 then find one in great used shape and are able to buy certified for at least 100k. That's how I have mine.
I also agree with codeman, save up your money until you can buy that target car. If I were you, I'd find a great deal on a Subaru. Plenty of performance, pretty good looking and the more ladies (or guys, whatever) you can fit into your hoo-ride, the better in college. Two things in college I should have lived by. Go through as many women as possible and have an inexpensive but fun car to drive around. Everything else comes together. Now I'm married and drive a Civic to work. You do the math.

Ive been looking at a couple 335s with around 40-55k miles, and selling at about 24-26k. The turbos r covered until 120k miles, the rest ends at 50k miles but i wanted to try to buy an extended warranty/CPO/etc.
The only reason i might sway away from them is maintenance.... i want to fix things myself, but working with turbos makes me a little uncomfortable. Im not very educated in them... plus parts and replacement items are expensive!
But i thank you for your financial/life advice, especially about those women at Cornell
