They did a really good job about keeping the weight down, only 2,950 lbs. That's pretty impressive.

Really like the weight, really like the drivetrain. Should be a great drive and one of if not the best in the segment.

Exterior styling I can't make up my mind on, it's definitely distinct and handsome but somehow it doesn't click with me the way I thought it would. Much like the CX-5, in fact.

Interior styling is disappointingly bland. It's like a 5-year-old German interior, and not flatteringly so.

because windshields are raked more than they ever have been before so it necessitates door mounted mirrors.

Two days ago, at Moscow Auto Show.

Mazda showed some bits and pieces last month, but the full car with details was introduced two days ago.

Very impressive on the weight reduction front, goes to show modern cars aren't necessarily doomed to get ever fatter and fatter. Hopefully the 2015 Stang will follow this mass trajectory.

Exterior styling is very nice, if not quite scintillating, but then, given the class, that really isn't expected (if not hoped for perhaps).

Interior, again, very nice if a touch generic and a bit derived from other makes. At least they pick good makes to derive from (the VW Passat'ish seats).

Drivetrain, again, very nice if a touch weak. At least the modest power numbers now only have to push a modest amount of weight, so acceleration should be adequate. Hopefully a turbo is somewhere near in the 6's future for those as interested in the drive as the destination.

Overall, a really good effort that has promise for better (performance oriented) models to come. Read some rumblings of a coupe version too (neo MX-6, which was a very nice car in its day).

Love how Mazda has actually bucked the weight gain trend. If they ever do a MS 6 w/AWD version of this car, it could be a real winner.

Considering the AWD might add back a good amount of the weight that's lost. If they get a 300hp 2.5 turbo, the MS6 would whip!!

I don't like the long and deep front fender creases from the side and big mirrors, but other than that it looks good. I really like the simple, functional, and attractive Teutonic interior. I used to have a VW Passat, which seems to be what inspired this interior, and it was a great car, inside and out, for FWD 4-cylinder family sedan. It's good Mazda dropped some weight, but I hope we get the 6-cylinder option.

Mazda has said they're dropping V6s out of every car. Turbo 4s is what you'll find now.

A shame. While blown four bangers can make the numbers (HP, TQ, MPG, EPA) objectively, they make neither the feel nor music of a V6.

That's too bad, as I much prefer the smoothness, sound, and durability of a V6 over a turbo I4. It seems only Nissan, Honda, Toyota, and VW will have a V6 in their midsized family sedans.
