Competition does improve the breed, but until they shrink it down and drop a bunch of weight, the Challenger won't be threatening the Mustang too much in any performance categories. I still like it better than the Camaro though.

While adding power will definitely help close the performance gap between the Challenger and its competitors, it still needs to go on a major diet in order to become a viable threat to the 2011+ Mustang's performance prowess, IMO.

When I think of the Challenger, I think retro and going fast in a straight line. A cool car to drive and take to the local weekend car cruise. Unless they change the weight & design, I think its always going to finish 3rd to the Mustang and Camaro when it comes to handling.

It will be interesting to see what Dodge does with the next incarnation of the Challenger...Not sure how they can improve on the retro look since the orginal Challenger was only around for 4 years.

Maybe they can put it on a 500lb diet, too.
There was a Challenger R/T at the drag strip this week stuck in the mid-14s @ ~95 ish. Though he did have exhaust and those V8s sound fantastic.

If I had the money to buy 2 out of the 3 American muscle cars (sans Corvette), I'd get a Challenger. Great looks, Hemi sounds awesome, very roomy. It seems like a good car to just go out and have a cruise or a road trip while still being comfortable for passengers. Too bad its a porker and costs too much.

My last car was a Dodge. I always had a soft spot for Mopar but they dropped the ball. They won't be around for very many more years. Fiat is a crap car, always has been and always will be.
The Challenger should have been built off the Advenger floor plan.
The Charger is the right size and weight because Chargers were always 'large cars', but with two doors and a better looking body style, instead of the modern 'Checker' car company look.
Chrysler has built too many cars off the 300 floor plan, in my opinion. I know its to save money but what good is that if they go under 'again'.
I feel better LOL!!!

The Challenger is THE best looking car out there right now. I am a huge fan of the 2010-2011 Mustang but my head snaps around every time I see a Challenger go by.
The 2011 SRT8 with the 475 HP "392" Hemi ought to be something. I like the play on the original Hemi bad boy displacement, the old 392 hemi's are what started the modern era of NHRA Top Fuel competition before the 426 came out.
I'd be all over a SRT8 or even a R/T if they weren't so heavy and expensive.
Still, if I had a bunch of money laying around, it would be near the top of my list of cars to buy.
