definatly stealing the german sedan cues. not a bad looking ride besides the uber boring interior.

And why can Hyandai a 3rd rate car maker have a 4.6L v8 making 368hp while the Ford 4.6 is only 300?

Most likely it's 368hp at 7000rpm, but I know what you mean. Ford's 4.6L is a rather old engine compared to today's standards.

I thought exactly the same thing when I first saw it. Front end is too much Mercedes-Benz.

Doesn't exactly scream "Hyundai" at you, does it? Looks better than I expected, but not exactly knocking my socks off either.

Our 4.6L V8 in the Stang is hardly pushing the bounds of what's possible. I love my GT, but I can tell when I drive it that it's rather "coarse" compared to many other vehicles I've driven, or driven in.

And while it's plenty quick, it doesn't feel particularly rapid, or smooth in power delivery. I'm hoping a tune will eliminate this "restricted" feeling.

Hopefully Ford spends as much time on powertrain refinements for the 2010 car as it does on mere HP increases or design changes.

As most of you know, I have a severe dislike of Hyundais. But I have to admit, it's not bad looking and the specs are very good. For those looking for luxury on the cheap, it'll do well. I'm not sure how well the name-dropper crowd will accept it though.

Todays lesson on how to rip off the work of other companies designers.

1. Make front end look like Mercedes-Benz
2. Make interior look like BMW, complete with the stupid I-Drive ****.

Voila!

Hyundai Genesis.

What Hyundai did is **** close to the Chinese blantant rip-offs.

That is what Hyundai is famous for. Reverse engineering their competitors. No wonder their cars are cheap and well designed!! Seriously, I just drove a Hyundai rental car the other day and found it to be a fairly pleasant drive. I was actually ****ed because I really wanted to hate that little car....but I just couldn't!!

Remember a little country called Japan? They began by studying and reverse engineering European and American cars...not to mention ripping off their designs (Mustang begot first Celica; Mercedes begot first Lexus LS sedan, etc, etc.)

Now look at them (current quality problems notwithstanding).

Hyundai is doing the same thing, and doing it faster, it seems. If you're Toyota, you're feeling Hyundai nipping at your heels. (No, that's not a bad double entendre...or maybe it is. )

The fit & finish on the Hyundai Genesis looks to be top notch. At the price they plan to sell it for, Ford could learn something here.

It will be interesting when the government finally fixes the trade discrepancy (96% export/4% import) and tariff Korean brands appropriately, as they have quite the free ride right now on the American economy's back. Anyhow, still an odd-looking car.

What party/administration/congress is EVER gonna stand up to corporate America, roll back free trade, and tell Asia the free ride is over?

I see no evidence this is going to happen in lobbyist-entrenched Washington, D.C.

Hyundai is hardly a third rate car company. I owned a 03 Tiburon and its a great little car. The quality was at the top of the list for cars in its price range and twice the car an 03 V6 Mustang was. I'm definitely going to go test drive the Genesis. Will I trade my Stang for it? Have any of you seen the Genesis Coupe yet?
