2009 Camaro Concept Pics

Honestly, GM should just give up trying to block these pics... the genie is out of the bottle - there are getting a ton of free publicity out of this.
Pictures still can be found around the NET, despite GM lawyers chasing themselves into a lather trying to swat them all down.
Somebody needs to tell the suits to forget it, that cat's already out of the bag and desperately trying to stop them all is just silly and likely to shine more, not less attention on them. Their very lawyerly, and very dumb, response to supress them will only backfire in the end. Reality check GM legal -- they're already out there in cyberspace, better to move forward and deal with that reality rather than trying to herd these cats back into the bag. Ford and other's have tried that response before with leaks with predictably terrible results. But hey, if you see a brick wall you're bound and determined to beat your heads against, I ain't gonna stand in your way! :-)
Anyway, these styling execises do look interesting and probably show at least the general direction GM is moving. Indeed, given GM's rabid response, I must surmise that they are far closer to the upcoming concept than I would have otherwise (GM, read law of unintended consequences).
Personally, I might have not gone quite so retro, but they are wise to include some classic Camaro design references and idioms. The Coke bottle shape is great and where Ford missed the boat by not including rear fender "hips" on the '05, IMHO.
Interior sketches especially are a bit too full-on retro. But being sketches, these might be farther from final than the styling mockups in the pics.
Suspension looks like a version of the Zeta(?) platform. McPherson struts seemed to have replaced the multi-control arms in the front suspension. But the rear suspension seems to be pretty much a carried over IRS, which, if it makes it to production, would certainly give the Camaro a competitive advantage over the Stang in terrms of overall ride and handling -- with some predictable moanings from the narrow contingent of drag racers.
In any case, all very interesting developments and it's great to see the Pony Car segment competition suddenly heating up with potentially two new strong competitors (Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro/Chevelle).
What's Ford going to do to meet this challenge?

Wait and see...
#1 you don't know what this will cost. And they should learn from the mustang. THEY ALL have to sell, not just the V8s.
#2 we know Ford has an IRS already designed for the D2C chassis. It was built with one, so they can put it in at ANY time....but at what cost.
#3 we KNOW the 5.4 fits under the hood.
#4 we KNOW the reskin is in 09..oh ... look... the same year the 'Camaro' is suppose to come back....
Do the math...
Its whether they choose to act on it....

Thanks, looks pretty nice. keep those basic lines and GM, as hard as they try, may just have failed to fail.
Well of course they also have to make sure people buy the V6 and not only the V8 as said above.

If they just gave up, everybody would see the photos, comment on it and then most people would move on with life. But by constantly making sites take the pictures down, if you want to see it you have to go hunt for it, expending time and effort to find it. People are a whole lot more likely to remember something they had to hunt for. Plus being hard to find helps generate a buzz.

Ford design Mustang like 71-73 Mustangs in 09?
Question is,will GM be around in 2009? Right now market betting is about 50/50.As for the looks...kinda of ok, but GM will find some way to screw it up! Hard to take a company seriously that would build one of these...

i love the big bodies....
Well this just might be a decent car - it still looks a bit too 'car show' model though.....
I can always laugh about one thing though..... when it comes down to it, EVERYONE is running to play catch up with the Pony.......

The BOZO"S that are running GM need to let the pics loose! They need to do something to help that sinking ship!!! The Corvette is the only think that they make that is not bad looking ( There trucks are ugly! Also they don't make a good full size rear wheel drive car!) Chrysler is finally building some nice cars and there Challenger will be another hit! GM just don't get it! Mark :notnice:

Hey Tony, the schedule for the redesign of the Mustang is 2009, go figure. Motot Trend had stated that 2008 would be the year, but Ford's new plan is a redesign every 4 years, so if the Mustang came in '05, logical to think '09 would be the new shape, having 4 years with the current design.

As for this Camaro-I must be missing the retro cues from the 60's.
I dont also see how someone likes the looks of this car. I think the front looks like that GTO redesign sketch/concept and the rear looks like a corvette with its pretentious butt in the air. The Charger is a sweet looking ride, so are our Mustangs, but this???

I think Chrysler is only building some nice carsbecause Mercedes-benz is coming up with the cars for them.
