You mean, it's what the US-ized Monaro should've been from the start.

Not bad, but 400 horse is less than I was expecting in the top-of-the-line G8

Thats some serious detuning to make a larger displacement engine with much better flowing heads and intake to "only" make 402 HP. Either some normal octane tune or underrating going on. Either way a CAI and tune would net 400 WHP easily. LS3 Vettes with CAI headers and tune make 450 WHP easily. Weight should be right at 4K give or take some depending on options. Serious family car no doubt. Very surprised to see a 4 door GXP to tell the truth.

It also appears that the ST is a go! http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl...&rssfeed=rss01. I'm loving Pontiac err Holden these days.

Wasn't the weight on that around 4000lbs

G8 GT as per pontiacs site is 3995lbs est.

So ... unless it lost some weight..I'd think heavier but faster.

Awww, this thang's nuth'n up against Ford's awesome new, errr, ummm, nevermind....

nice but its just a 4 door 05 GTO.
... that has tasteful, sophisticated styling, excellent suspension and brakes, great interior, great drivetrain, powerful (and likely underrated) motor with room for the whole family/business clientel ... so I'll presume the GTO comment to be a compliment.

Boy, Pontiac really seems to be getting its mojo back in a big way. This, the G8 Ute version ... now if they just get that G60 Coupe concept over here as the Tempaest/GTO, they really be slamming away the home runs.

Edmunds.com did a comparison of the G8 GT vs. the Charger SRT8 and the Pontiac won. Frankly, I love the design and the it's priced for the middle income family. You can get a G8 GT for just under 30K and fully loaded for a bit under 33k. Not bad in my opinion.

If I had the money I would consider one...

No Kidding. Guess they are trying to earn the "driving excitement" back again. That G8 ute is going to be a helluva Tow rig with the right add ons .

Looks good, but I've never been a fan of that Pontiac split-grill.

How about "another box on wheels"! A Honda Civic SI couple has more styling than that IMO~

That test was bull. The g8 runs a 13.8 1/4. That puts it in line with the Charger RT not the SRT8. The SRT8 should be almost a half second quicker in the 1/4. Anyone running almost a 14 sec 1/4 in an SRT8 has not learned how to drive it yet.
