I can't wait till the first idiot - gunning for new Mustangs - pulls up to a light and challenges our GTs with one of these things. Oh well, the reign was fun while it lasted <sigh>.

Keep in mind that to purchase a Mustang GT + the bits to get to the 400 Flywheel mark still costs less than it will to buy an M3. The current M3s base price is $48,900 which means once you get it out the door, you're talking $50K. You can bet the new one will be more. They just aren't in the same catagory. Comparing it to the GT500 would be more apples to apples.
Looks like I should go hang out in Death Valley, see if I can capture some videos myself. Wonder how much they pay for a good spy video.

I agree the Shelby GT500 will be a more worthy competitor, though I suspect stock for stock the M3 will defeat it, too.
