Hmmmm What were they smoking all i know is it does have the 5.3l v8 engine in it with 300 something hp which isnt bad. As for the looks what the heck were they smoking because they kind of went retro on us lol if you think about it.

I am going to jump out on the limb but could the Monte Carlo be competition to the Mustang even though it will lose in the looks department and others

2006 Chevrolet Impala
Base engine: 3.5-liter V-6
Horsepower: 210
Height: 58.7 inches
Width: 72.9 inches
Length: 200.4 inches
Curb weight: not determined
What the automaker says:"The '06 Impala and Monte Carlo wear a new look, both inside and out, that conveys sophistication and exudes big-car roominess."
What you should know: Chevy woos fans of big power with an optional 303-hp, 5.3-liter V-8 in it's mid-sized cars.
Production possibility: Production starts next summer

2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Base engine: 3.5-liter V-6
Horsepower: 210
Height:55.8 inches
Width:72.9 inches
Length:196.7 inches
Curb weight: not determined

Looks like a bloated cobalt,

someone needs to shoot their designers, they'll probably butcher the Camaro if they every try bringing it back.

The 4 Door seems similar to the Nissan Altima IMHO.

GM cars are too...well....bland for me. i dont wanna look like every other kid on the block, driving dome crappy weakly styled car designed after some Import POS (dont get me wrong, imports are great econoboxes, but just that)
i wanna stand out. im 15. my ego is bigger thatn the freaking moon. i want the world to know when im coming. thats why i like mustangs. plain and simple.

well there's that whole performance thing too

I like them. They're classier than the previous cars. NASCAR should be happy with the MC's profile. Is it going to be in the 2005 season for NASCAR like the Charger or is it 06?

Well, there's the Deville, Seville, Eldorado, Aurora, and Bonneville GXP. And that's just GM, off the top of my head. Although, these are the first GM front-drivers in a long time to use a non-Northstar V8 (the Aurora V8, while only 4 liters, was a Northstar) to the best of my knowledge.

EDIT: You know, that front end looks ALOT like a Honda Accord.
Also, the 5.3L V8 out of the trucks? Gee, can't imagine any torque steer issues there...

Why do they look like cavaliers? :notnice:

Those Nascar Monte Carlos- cant see dropping 30 grand on a v6 auto. If it came in v8 manual with no orange stuff.......nother story.

All those GM cars are starting to look the same. Not to mention Fugly....

The oldsmobiles were nice lookin- but GM killed those.

I think the car looks ok. Plain, clean, basic, but ok.

Any other shots?

I think they look better but is it just me or do the lines of the Impala front end and hood look like a Dodge Stratus?

I think its a big imrovement over the current car. Not a bad effort, IMO, esp. in light of the optional V8.

the grand prix GXP or something just got this engine as well. ya a V8 just ain't the same if its spinning the front wheels.

Me and my girlfriend were actually just female ******* about how the current impala is so lame, i'd say this is a definite improvement.
In fact, if it were RWD, i'd like it.

THe new bow tie is nice.

Don't forget the '96-'99 Taurus SHO had a 3.4L V8 in them.
