wow... that front end is horrendous. and i dont see that y'all think is wrong with the dash. thats prolly the ONLY good part on it imo...
but i will say that i think its going to do well. i mean its a darn cheap car. so guess, it'll prolly stay as good saleswise as it has been in recent years
but i will not own one.

I've never been a fan, so I think anything about them. They are the generic car's on the road that make traffic more boring than it is
I suppose the 92-95 model only have the non bubble look going for them.

I don't think its that bad, actually pretty nice for a cheap little car, only one thing though - I don't really think a reasonable person (assuming gas doesn't get too expensive) is going to pay the extra $6,000 for the hybrid over the coupe/sedan.
That extra $6,000 gets you 82,800 miles if you get the coupe/sedan. If you drive 20,000 - 30,000 miles a year that's 3-4 years of driving for free compared to the hybrid. Even if gas goes to $3.00 you get 2-3 years of free driving.
$6000 / $2.50 = 2400 gallons * 34.5mpg = 82,800 miles
$6000 / $3.00 = 2000 gallons *34.5mpg = 69,000 miles
And if you plan on keeping the car for 10 years and put 200,000 miles on it over that time, its only cost effective to buy the hybrid if gas averages $4.00/gallon over those 10 years
coupe/sedan @34.5mpg = 5797 gallons of gas over 10 years
$2.50/gallon * 5797 = $14,492.50 on gas over 10 years
$3.00/gallon * 5797 = $17,391.00 ""
$4.00/gallon * 5797 = $23,188.00
hybrid @ 50mpg = 4000 gallons of gas over 10 years
$2.50/gallon * 5797 = $10,000.00 on gas over 10 years
$3.00/gallon * 5797 = $12,000.00 ""
$4.00/gallon * 5797 = $16,000.00
so at $2.50 you save $1,507.50 over those 10 years (hybrid = $16,000 [$6000 over cost of coupe/sedan + $10000 on gas] - coupe/sedan = $14,492.50) by buying the coupe/sedan
at $3.00 you save $609 by buying the coupe/sedan
at $4.00 you save $1,188 by buying the HYBRID
(there are NO tax deductions for buying the hybrid civic in the new energy bill, so there are no additional savings to add on unless your state gives deductions for the hybrid civic)

I bought an original Civic CRX Si 2 months after they first came out in '85. Fun car only weighed 1800lbs. very light and quick. It was nice looking for the time also. This Si is probably a hoot to drive and toss in the corners but IMO it just seems like it has really bland nondescript looks, nothing to make it stand out. A car can be great to drive but I also like it to look nice also. Just my .02 worth.

actually it may come down to whether any options are standard in the hybrid that aren't standard in the coupe/sedan that the average person would want.

Sticker mileage for the auto tranny is 30 city, 40 highway (38 highway with the manual tranny) Mileage for the Hybrid is 50/50 - the same for both city and highway. A lot of Japanese/European cars are getting the smooth rounded nose - to help reduce pedestrian injuries - some type of government regulations someplace. I like the 06 better than the '05. I had an '05 and traded for my Focus . gave up 4.5 miles per gallon but got better seats and better acceleration.
Honda has goofy matches between the interior and exterior colors. Also, you get 4 whhel disk brakes on the EX but not the DX or LX (not sure about the LX). Hybrid Civics are still made only in Japan.

If CNN is correct when they said that gas will be $5/gallon soon - Civic will impress a lot of people.

Since when has any garbage liberal media station been right? They want you to be scared to make corporate American look bad. That's their job, remember that.

I mean don't get me wrong, they genereally do a good job of reporting but when they do all this speculation stuff, it's all out of proportion and their opinions always tend to be so left wing. Like last election how they predicted Kerry would win. Well guess what? They were wrong!
