1st Purchase for the Stang

While my Pony is yet to arrive, I've already bought my first "accessory" for it. I wouldn't consider this a mod ofcourse, but a very useful/needed accessory none the less. What do you think? Its the Beltronics RX65 Pro.

Got one of those as well. Nice piece of required kit if you are like me, born with a congenital "leadfoot."
If you are interested, there is a thread to hardwire an Escort radar detector here, but the procedures are basically the same since Bel and Escort are owned by the same company.

Maybe I just don't fully understand the technology but the only way the detector can pick up the radar signal is that it must come in contact with the signal. Now if the signal is bouncing off of other cars, I could see it working but if you're in the middle of a pack of cars, you normally don't have to worry about getting stopped. You also shouldn't be hauling butt through a pack of cars anyways. Then if you're the only one on the road and it detects a signal, wouldn't the radar have already picked up how fast you were going thus negating the entire reason to have a detector?

Remember a radar's energy can be detected by a receiver at normally 50% of the range that same radar will receive a return from the target. That is a generalization, but "generally" true. A radar detector can see the radar energy from a radar gun at up to 4 miles depending on terrain, elevation, traffic, weather, and obstructions. That is way farther than the police officer can get a return.
