1965 Chevrolet's Bewitching Bonanza
Sure brings back some memories.
I always wanted to do a Crown conversion for a '65/'66 Corvair.
(Let's see if anybody remembers that reference.)
By the way Hollywood, I like the avatar.
Thought my brother and I were the only "Voyage" fans still alive.

Back to the cars - that was a cool video, I'd not seen that before. Ok, I cheated - I looked up the Crown conversion - turns a Corvair 6 cyl into a mid-engined V8 car...pretty cool! I looked it up on the net, as I was born in 65 and don't remember too much at that point! However, I *do* remember our 1968 Mustang Coupe with a 289 we got a couple years later.

Yeah, big Irwin Allen fan from way back. Though frankly, it's a bit hard to watch now for anything other than nostalgic reasons. The writing and stories by today's standards are pretty bad. This really got driven home when I bought the first and second seasons on DVD recently.
Irwin Allen’s stuff was very derivative in many ways. Voyage... was obviously borrowed from Jules Verne’s ‘20,000 Leagues...’; The Time Tunnel from H.G. Wells’ ‘Time Machine’; ...Giants from ‘Shrinking Man’, etc.
His strength seemed to lie in combining and packaging these ideas in new and innovative ways that captured the imaginations of kids during the paranoia of the Cold War/post Cuban Missile Crisis era (it was funny to look forward to 1980 as "the future"). He also gathered together some very talented artists and production people to visualize his grandiose concepts. Plus he hired “Johnny” Williams to compose the theme music for several of these shows. Of course, we now know that composer as John Williams.
I actually have the 32 inch Lunar Models film version of the S.S.R.N Seaview. The FS-1 Flying Sub looks cool to this day!
By the way, this guy did a cool little reproduction animation of the show's opening for his fan page.
