The 05 has gotten ENOUGH attention...
I have been madly researching and learning about my new machine, and doing some light mods to her. But, I have been neglecting my Subaru for... ever?
Ok, I KNOW the first thing anyone *here* is gonna think is "go to a WRX forum". so don't bother, I already have.. been to a few, and they, just like the Mustang community, are a moxed bag, with good and bad forums. The bad ones are FULL of the ricers we all love so much. But the one I spend the most time in hates the term "ricer" too... which makes me want to spend more time there... not to mention there are no egos and kiddie stupidity...
Anyway, I have been reading and learning and I have decided a new uppipe, downpipe, and muffler are the first things to go on the Subbie.
Why post that here? Well, I don't want ya'll to think I would neglect my lil Subbie, even though she is 4 years older... and hey, why not stir some debate? How many of us here only play with our Mustangs???

That would be me.
My other car(99 alero) can stick it. Eleanor has the whole garage to herself. The alero is delegated to the driveway.
Edit- crap that sounded bad.

I always like WRXs for some reason. Probably because they are basically streetable rally cars. I don't really see them as rice, unless they are base models with gaudy body kits and ridiculous spoilers. They sure can be made to go fast though!
Just with the down pipe you'll notice alot the difference in its performance
. We changed it on my friends STI, and it felt alot faster. I recomend that you also buy the ECU, and upgrade your intercooler into the STI one for better boost.

My hubby took it from me so I could have Eleanor.

Herknav, I too have an '02 WRX (wagon), and I just turned 120Kmiles on it (holding on to it, waiting and hoping they make the MY08 Bullitt Stang edition).
I have aftermarket up/downpipes, muffler, turbo, inj's, pump, and ECU to the dyno-tuned flywheel rating of approx. 340HP. I've had it at that level since approx. 30Kmiles, and it is my daily driver (my work commute is approx. 45miles roundtrip - no highway). So, if nothing else, its been reliable - even after being modded for so long.
They're great little fun cars, but no way can they match that visceral feel and rumble of a big ol' V8!
Like you, I hope to be able to actually afford to keep it (since its paid for) and just get the Stang as an "alternate" vehicle to enjoy, and (hopefully) not put as many miles on in as few years...

Sounds GREAT! I just ordered a Helix up and down pipe. I figured I would start simple and move from there.
I use BOTH cars as daily drivers. Right now, I drive the Stang, because the weather is so nice right now. But it can turn bad at any time, and I will drive the subbie any time I think it will turn bad... gotta love that balanced AWD in less-than-perfect conditions. And it is SOOO fun to drive that lil car...

I had a '02 WRX Wagon myself. I had the following:
Cobb Stage 2, 93 octane tune
Vishnu uppipe (non-catted)
Godspeed downpipe (non-catted)
Stromung 2.5" exhaust (cat-back and midpipe) with twin-tips
Vishnu Pulley (same diameter, just alum instead of steel)
K&N air filter
removed the airbox silencer
Kartboy short shifter
I was running consistant 13.40's in the quarter mile with this combination and it was my daily driver, 365 days a year. Had about 45K miles on that setup when I sold it to get the STi. It was very smooth and the sound was great. Not loud at all, just sounded like a 911 Twin Turbo when you got into 'er!
