Winter Storage

There are many Mustangs in Canada that go into storage.
This year I would like to claim a first, Aug 30.

Car now has 13000 km going into storage, just getting Broke in.
Problem is more with Me, Car is still Great.

If I can't drive It, No one Can. I know most of you understand and
Have this attitude.

Actually with Hi way Work and Road/ Weather conditions around here
make driving the SporTrac not a bad Option.

SGI also rebated Me $290.

Can"t believe I'm Waiting for Spring.

Who's Next up for the Big Wait ?

Whoa... you have to elaborate... why so early?

I'm going to take the same attitude as last year. I'm going to keep driving it until the first salt truck starts up. Then i'll fill it up with fuel stabilizer and do all those other great things and park it. Last year I made it to the 3rd week of November.

Winterizing

My GT vert was built yesterday so I will have a few weeks before I put in away for winter. What winter storage prep should I do?

Unhappy

"Problem is more with Me, Car is still Great."
I'm at the start of a Health Fight, so with some of the Drugs kicking in
I will not be Driving that much. Nice perdictable SporTrac is the better Choice.
Save the Mustang

Bright Side: I'll be First at Something and This is " Next Year Country"

Hey guys, I have just a curiosity question. I know you have said before that you basically drop your car insurance on the stangs while they are stored. Does your home owners still cover it if something happens? This is assuming the car is not on the road, i know if something happened then your screwed.

Dave, all the best with your health

Scott,

What I usually do is take all the insurance coverage off my car except theft and fire. In the event that the car was stolen or something happened to the house, i'm covered. It only costs like $30 a month during the winter. I am shocked you made no comments about how you can drive year-round

Yep Scothew, all you actually do is drop the collision coverage, and keep fire and theft on the car. you can technically still drive it if you wanted too, but if you got into an accident that was deemed your fault, you'd have to foot the bill.

As for winter storage advice:
- change oil before putting away
- fill gas tank and put fuel stabilizer in
- buy a battery maintainer/trickle charger (make sure it is an automatic float charger and not a manual one)
- put a fresh coat of wax on it (buff off, else it'll get dusty and you'll push dust into it when buffing later)
- put a high quality car cover on it, or a light clear plastic sheet (clean)
- over fill tires with air

that's about what i do. if you worry about rodents, put some moth ***** under the car, or those rodent noise maker things.

Mine will be put away first snow fall. As for insurance, I just do the fire/theft thing. Only downfall is, if the car is damaged (vandalism) you are on your own to get it repaired So the $500.00 I will save in insurance may or may not be worth it if anything happens to the car while being stored.

( this is a good idea then you can still rotate the wheels but don't forget to run it every now and then.

"Storage means the car didn't move or start for 6 months."

It is very rare to get permanent flat spots on a modern radial tire. It would have to be sitting for a very long time. As soon as you start driving, the belts and rubber compound go back to their proper roundness.

Flat spots are only a concern with belted tires.

Only 20 ?

I sold my last car at 30 years old and it was still in excellent condition.
Not driving in winter = body lasting forever
