Ford of Canada Drive-Away for Mustang Convertibles
Ford of Canada will be staging a Drive-Away event for the introduction of Mustang Convertible on Tuesday March 29 at the Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto.
Starting at 8:00am, 24 '05 Mustang Convertibles will be unloaded at the Square. Ford has lined up media coverage for the morning.
Starting at 12:20pm, there will be a police escorted cruise around downtown streets.
Then at 1:00pm, the new owners will drive their new Mustang off into the wild blue yonder. Actually back to the dealership for PDI and Clean-up, then off into the wild blue yonder.
These will be the first convertibles to hit the road in Canada, before any others have hit the dealers' lots.
I will be there with Simon (Legend05) as he takes in all the glory as one of the first new Convertible owners in Canada.
He will be answering all the reporters questions, signing autographs and getting a swelled head!
And we will all be able to say "I knew him back when he was just Simon!"
Whoever is in the area, come by and say hi and see the '05 Convertible, including a beautiful Silver one with Red Interior.

You guys really don't know how wild this is.
I am having soooo much trouble sleeping at night.
Went to Steve's office yesterday and paid for the beast!!
Very hard to hand over all those thousands but it will be
well worth it. Got my insurance yesterday also.
All set for the 29th. Would be awsome if Ford gave one of these baby's away ;-)
Will be taking alot of pics and video.
Hope to meet some TMS guys down there. Say hello!!

All 24 of the Convertibles are lined up at a "secret location" ready to go for Tuesday morning.
A sea of convertibles is an awesome sight.
It looks like "top down" weather in the forecast.
It should be a great Intro Event!

BTW, so far its looking good for me to make an appearance. Hope you don't mind in a coupe drives onto Yonge and Dundas square unexpectedly.
Is that "SECRET" Location next to the train tracks, just south of Highway 7 a bit east of Airport Rd?? I almost sure I saw a bunch of verts there today from the road!

Okay, its midnight....... I've decided I'll make an appearance.
BTW, I found the permit issued on the Toronto website while searching for the event....LOL.
See you around 8-8:30am till 9am.
Again, I don't know who everyone is so come up to me. I'll be wearing a leather jacket and blue jeans if I'm not next to my car.
Simon must be sleeping, though I can't imagine how.......... This is exciting and I have my car!!
BTW, I've seen three 05 GT's in two days. They're starting to show up all over the place. Of course, now they're 24 more.
I'll have my digital camera on hand for some pics.

Spring is here. Orders are arriving. You will start seeing more and more '05s.
Another 24 added tomorrow!
I will be there with the Screaming Yellow Coupe (WHTOAK plate) joining in the display and cruise around T.O.
I will be wearing my blue and white GHMA jacket.
I will bring my camera too, but I think Simon will have the pictures covering every minute.
It will be a blast! See all of you there.

I drove my coupe onto Dundas and Yonge Square along with the verts (hey, a guy needs to park no?)
The Ford guys even gave me a keychain.
Eventually though one of the young ford guys told me to get my coupe off the square, LMAO!
I figure it was because it looked out of place in the media shoot plus it was gathering a small crowd haha. The verts looked great
I missed Steve as well......
I came back at around 12:40pm and met Simon again. Steve, where you there at that time?
Looked like a lot of fun........ Reminded me of when I got mine. I enjoyed watching guys such as Simon get their car.
Plus, it generated a lot of buzz. Tons of pedestrians walking by stopped (actually, it was mostly pedestrians).
I drove through Steve (Galaxie's) old neck of the woods on the way back (Ryerson). Got lots of attention there.
I spend about 1.5hrs crusing around T.O. today......lots of fun, but now I'm up to my ears trying to finish the work I left all day.
Steve, Boomer etc. etc.... Simon and I agreed we'd do a cruise this spring/summer. Keep a Saturday or something open.
Simon must be busy enjoying the 05..........I'm sure he'll post eventually.
It was a GREAT event.
24 Convertibles and 4 Coupes (one Screaming Yellow) all lined up on the Square.
I got there about 9:50am.
Tigger199 (Mark) did the PDI on Simon's Convert right there on site, bolted Simon's LEGEND05 plate on the car (not the front one). His was the only one there licensed and ready to go.
I was quite surprised that there were only 3 new owners out of 24 cars. The rest were dealers or managers. I cannot understand dealers wanting to keep the first one for inventory, but to each his own.
The Drive around the downtown core was spectacular. With a police escort blocking intersections and moving along from intersection to intersection stopping traffic and pedestrians.
A few got a little carried away lighting up the tires but it was a great time. A fantastic experience.
Just before we left on the Drive, I phoned back to the dealership and had them declare the sale to Simon so he officially has the first '05 Mustang Convertible sold in Canada. Definately the highest mileage one too now.
Dan, I was there at 12:45. I saw you taking Simon's picture with his ride. I was talking to the Ford people there.
When we returned to Whiteoak, Mark's Convertible had arrived also. But Mark just HAD to take Simon's ride for one more check out, before he PDI'd his own.
It was such a unique and great experience.
Thanks to Shelley Ravelle and the people at Ford, Barry Raynor & Assoc. and Integrated for putting it together.
I think Simon had a good time too!
