Canadian Availability Far better than U.S.
Sometimes it is so much better being Canadian!
Ford of Canada now has 90% availability of IUP for the next few weeks and probably about 60% for March build. Compare that to the 20% range stateside.
I guess this means Ford has the IUP situation under control.
We also have never had any restriction on GT vs V6 or Auto vs Stick.
Sometimes being a smaller market has its advantages.
It is also the results of the great work done by Peter Jansen, Mustang Brand Manager at Ford of Canada.
Thanx Peter!

I agree, Peter has done a tremendous job.
As for us, it obviously has to do with the 'drop in the pond' numbers we produce.
If say 20% of our stangs could have IUP, out of the 10k we may sell a year, only 2000 would have them..not many
It is to our advantage to run the small numbers, and have our own rules.
Love it

Peter Jensen is one of the best Ford has IMO and a great guy who I was fortunate enough to meet. Ford MoCo will do just fine if their employees are that passionate and enthusiastic about the cars they sell.
Best of luck to FoMoCo Canada and its employees. Keep up the good work.

Perhaps Peter can tell me if the Mustang has galvanized body panels, or something similar.
I can't find that info anywhere - dealers, Ford of Canada, etc.
I'm curious as to what they build into the car to survive rust inducing conditions up here.

I am pretty sure all cars have double-gavanized sheetmetal. I believe all fords have had that since MY 1990. (My Areostar is a rusty '89
)
Galvanizing will not prevent rust, it will only slow it down. Best thing IMO is to get a good quality rustproofing if you drive your car year-round. No paint sealant for me, but if I am driving in the snow, i'll look at Ziebart, Krown or Rust Check.

I just went to my Ford dealer (in MTL) yesterday because of that 4-6 month wait for GT in the US. They didn't seem to think they would have any problem ordering mine and having it at the latest by May. I ordered a Black GT 5sp with IUP and ICAP. They had 2 with the Shaker 1000 in stock but I decided to pass ... 2 extra Gs for a radio ... too much.
I just hope I don't regret ordering than spending the extra for the Shaker 1000
Were any of you who ordered latetly (in Canada) given an estimated delivery date ?
Thanks ... Can't wait for spring !!

Do NOT go to Ziebart. They don't used the oil based stuff and I haven't been very impressed when we used to take my dad's truck there.
***********Limited allocation from now on in Canada**********************
Just picked up my VIN # and Dora on Thursday for my Feb. 28th Build Date GT.
Manager of the dealership told me that Ford US is stealing Canadian allocation to handle US demand. He said he cannot order anymore, no more details than this. I suspect that they will limit new Canadian supply until the glut of mustangs, sitting on dealers lots is cleared up. To me this means the spring.
I was wondering how long it would take Ford US to do this. If I was the President of Ford, I would have done this a long time ago. Not politics, just good business, If I can sell a car in Florida or have it spend the winter sitting on the lot here in Canada, what would you do?
FYI: I ordered with my dealer in mid Jan. I was told at this time, they woud place the order with Ford in Mid Feb., using their March Mustang GT allocation. I did not want my car till April, but I was concerned that this was leaving it too late, with all the supply problems in the US.
Anyway, dealer was right, if order was place in Jan., I would be stuck with my GT sitting in my garage right now, waiting for Spring. I will probably get my car sometime in April.
PS: Anyone have a stock set of GT wheels for sale. I got the machined brights and need another set of wheels for next winter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would take what your dealer is saying with a very large grain of salt. Until one of the dealers on this board chimes in to confirm, I wouldn’t believe much of what you’ve been told. Many years ago I worked in new car sales, most of what is told to customers is pure fiction (I’m being polite).

The better marketing comment is BS.
-For ford, a sold unit is a sold unit. whether the money is in the right or left pocket. Once its on the lot, to Ford its sold, not to the dealership.
-a shortage in the states also creates the ripple effect of people ordering right away, to get one, which also creates a shortage...

Ford of Canada did a "bulk buy" of Mustang Coupes for February build, traditionally the quietest time of the year for Mustang orders.
March allocation was more like "normal". Half a dozen range per dealer versus the 20 range for February. Presumably allocation will be in the half dozen range for the next few months till balance out. Ford has given no indication otherwise.
So yes, we will be able to order Mustangs through balance out in June.
I think you will want rock salt with that one!

Thanks for the clarification Steve. I'm new here, but I had read some of your posts prior to registering. It’s nice to know that there is a Canadian on this board who has the straight poop for us civilians.

Ok Fords are not boats to say but what about attaching Zinc plates to the body or under frame does anyone think that would help ? Have it all go to the Zinc bars and then just swap them out ? I'll try anything once !
