Yes NY requires 2 plates on your car but most guys (LEO's) aren't going bother someone in a nice car. A sh*tbox might get some attention. Don't drive drunk or suspended or something like that because you might get stopped but probably wont get a ticket for Sec. 402.1 but even if you do it's only like $10.

 

dealers dont need a front lisnce plate and my dad (a dealer) made them put on a whole new cobra bumber ''free'' on his car when they preped it wit a licensce bracket

 

I had a new 93 Vette and in town a trooper pulled me over for no front plate. Didn't write it but since my car was only 3 weeks old I went home drilled the bumper myself and never went without a front plate again. I think the law is stupid. Seems like the one plate states operate fine.
