I went to discount tire in everett today - they gave me 160 for my p-zeros and I got bf goodrich g-force 255 -50 ZR17 s for less than $500

all around -looks tough...

Les Schwabb only offered my 100 for the pzero and 950 for toyos.... - the 100

here is a great web site to calculate tire diameter differences... pretty cool..

Andrew, can you post some pictures with a view from the back looking forward from near gournd level? I think a little wider would look good on mine.

Any noticable difference in handling? I would expect some.

Thanks,
Greg

No problem I owuld have done this tonite - but I went for a long drive to Ballard for a D I C K s hamburgers - tomorrow I am going to get up early and wash and wax... WHOO HOO.. so I will snap pictures Front and Back and post them, I went with this tire size on all four corners.... it looks good from front and back.

Ride depends on the tire brand.. as far as I am concerned I am getting great ride from the BF goodrich g-force tire. Much better than the pzeros. Handling is great too.. I believe its alot more responsive and I can feel the car really hold the corners alot tighter. As with any wider tire - you do feel the road grooves more. But so far I am REALLY happy with the tire choice. They really enhance the cars bold look and they are performing well. This tire size is right on..

its important to not put too big a tire on the car or boost your rim size, they may look cool but you sacrifice performance. The car was designed with 17 " rims in mind. Larger tires/rims diameter means your going to loose performance - hp and torque. You can also over stress drive line and brakes and impact your revs and odometer.

with this tire size - your only 1/2 % off on original diameter and the tire is only 1 pound heavier than the pzeros - pzeros are 26 pounds. The BF goodrich are 27 pounds each. After 212 miles your odometer will be adding an extra mile, at 100mph your speed is really 100.5 mph..
New cross section is 10 inches - about 3/4 of an inch wider than the pzeros - but its a very noticeable difference..one thing I have noticed about the rpms is its easier to stay in third for cruising at 35mph. It only bumped up the rpms a VERY slight amount but its enough to make 3rd more comfortable at 35.

After 212 miles your odometer will be adding an extra mile,

How does that work? every 212 miles is really 213?

Sam, I think what he's saying is the 255/50 size tire is a little smaller in diameter and will make more revolutions per mile, so after physically traveling 212 miles on the road your odometer would really show 213 miles.

When I did the math I got a slightly different number. The smaller tire makes 4 more revolutions per mile than the stock tire, so it travels (4 x 84.91in) = 339.64 inches less distance than the stock tire in one mile (assuming it's perfectly round). For your odometer to be over by one mile (their chart shows one mile = 769.5 revs x 84.91 inches = 65,338 in) you would have to travel 65,338in/339.64in= 192.37 miles.

This seems about right if you take the .052 % difference they quote.
1 mile/.0052 = 192.3 miles.

Man I need to get a life. I should be cleaning up my car this morning like AJC.

AJC thanks for all the tire info. Can't wait to see the pictures!

AJC, they look really nice, noticable difference. I may have to move that up on my priority list!

Your 4 hours of work looks like it really paid off. Excellent job. We drove to Port Townsend today get our broken in a little. Tomorrow morning it will be my turn to wax.

darn, they look sweet!

If I had known you were coming down my way, I woulda tried to meet up with you. I live just a few blocks from the D I C K 's on Holman Rd. As long as you weren't there too late, as I had to leave for work at 3pm. I've been waxing my black beauty this week (final touches were this morning) also, using Zaino products. It's not a Mustang though, so I won't post a picture, just a link. I've got to get rid of it so I can go pick up my new Mustang in 2 weeks.

You can see my old beast here: http://home.comcast.net/~jayguy4/photos2.html

Edited because "weiners" isn't a burger joint.

AJC looks great love the black. That was my first choice but wife has a black car and I have a black harley so we thought we would mix it up a bit with a lighter color. Hope you dont mind if I saved a couple of the pics.
greg thanks for the math lesson I get it now.

Thanks! yeah more than one black vehicle in the family would be alot of work.. Probably a good idea you went with a lighter color..

No prob with saving a couple of pics... Its good to see what others are doing, gives you ideas.

I plan on keeping the car mostly stock and any parts I swap out will be stored for when I return it to full stock. I dont plan on flash, I prefer to make the car look classy, like a true pony/muscle car. Thats one of the reasons I have decided to not tint the windows, swap out rims, or change the body with rouche or other add ons.

Jayguy - you have your toyota truck looking pretty good - it should sell in no time. Although I would keep it... need a practical vehicle as well as the toy. My last two SUVs before the liberty were toyotas. 4-runner and xtra cab - both 4X4s. they were great vehicles, 200,000 miles on both.

I went with windveil blue. I am really thinking about the black. My plan is to put black wheels on it.
