Get Out Of The Cold 2008 @ MIR Dragway 3/29/08!
I wanted to post this to see if we can get more Mustangs to head down. Several years ago, a bunch of Mustangs from the Bad Mustangs Club, headed down to a Virginia Hooters for the day. The cars came from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina. It was something to do, to get out of the douldrums of the winter here in the east. It was called Get Out Of The Cold. That day, about 25 Mustangs went. Last year, the event's 3rd year, it moved to the Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek Maryland, for a day of drag racing our cars.
The PA & NJ drivers met up in Maryland with the DE & MD members and a huge caravan went down, who ultimately met up with the members from VI and NC. It was a blast of a day. While the track was busy doing test & tunes, we each got in around 5-6 runs. On the way down it did rain (actually pour), but when we got to the track, it cleared and was a great day. About 55-60 Mustangs were there. After the track day, we all hit the Outback Steakhouse for dinner. They had tables for all of us who went to eat (over 50 people). A great day that Saturday. After dinner, we all went to the hotel we had set up (Best Western of La Plata Maryland), and had a great time relaxing. Next morning we all left at our own time and went home. I was in a caravan of 6 Mustangs heading home. A blast of a weekend.
This is where this post comes in. I wanted to spread the word to other Mustang enthusiasts in the area, who may be interested in joining up. The event is scheduled for March 29th, 2008. The majority of PA 7 NJ members of Bad Mutangs Club who are going down to MIR, are leaving late Friday morning and will be getting down there in the late afternoon. We have a hotel deal set up with Best Western for $99 a night. This is a good hotel as its clean, and only 15 minutes from the track and 10 minutes from Outback for dinner Saturday night. It was a FUN day of hanging out with fellow Mustang owners and the cruise down and home was a blast. Plus the track was great. They had a spot saved for us all to park together and everything. The remaining block of rooms and discount will be released back to the hotel by 3/12 so if your on the fence about staying over night you will need to book the room soon

Look when yall come this way just be smart because usually on the events at MIR they have special assignments working aggressive driving and speed enforcement on 301 and on 234 towards the track. hopefully I will be there, also if your staying in LaPlata have someone stop over at the Charles county sheriffs offices and ask them to do patrol checks for ya through the parking lot after dark and mid nigth to keeep your stuff safe, They have had alot of robberies and thefts up that way. just do stay in waldorf.

Right across from the hotel, just keep valubles out of sight and if you have a portable gps , clean the rings off the windshield after you take it off, the crooks are looking for these signs on the cars then smashing the windows stealing the items, they opened a few places to eat around there but most the good ones are in waldorf ,which is about 8 miles north, they have better places, even hooters, be safe and hope to see yall .
