I've been in touch with some of you about my upcoming trip to Detroit, and many of you have even generously donated to help me cover airfare, hotel, and rental car. (Thanks again!)
If you're going to be free on the night of September 27, I may try to get a few forum members from the Detroit area together for dinner or the Tigers vs. Sox game or something. I'm not going to be able to pay for your dinner or ticket to a game, but I would love to meet you while I'm in town. Please let me know if you'd like to join in and what you'd like to do.
While I'm in Detroit I'll be going to the 2005 Mustang Launch Celebration, The Henry Ford, the Rouge Factory Tour, and the Benson Ford Research Center. I'll also try to run by the Roush Museum. Anything else Mustang-related that I should check out in the area?

I guess I'll be the first to say that's pretty cool to get together with some of the forum members here. I'm cool with what ever you and who ever here want to do. The tigers game sounds pretty cool and dinner...If you haven't been to the new Tiger stadium (Comerica Park) it's pretty sweet it' right next to our umm...football team's new stadium(Ford Field) ahem, which belongs to the Lions sigh. When you first come in the entrance it has like 4 huge lions pouncing, they're kinda intemidating. It has an mini indoor park with elephant ear stands, rides etc. It has it's own Mcdonalds with view of the field and a pretty cool water fountain thing in the rear of the field. One suggestion could be a little get together at Kart 2 Kart; it's an indoor go-karting arena K2K. They have meeting rooms and food and can also cater, just a thought.

I'm thinking about reserving some piggybacked seats in the cheap outfield seats for the Tigers game. That way we'd get to talk and it'd be cheap--like $5/person.
Ah, its letting me reply now.
Sounds good...as I mentioned (e-mail), I think I may have tickets for the Tiger game on the 27th, which would work out great.
"The Henry Ford" or Greenfield Village and The Henry Ford Museum as it used to be called, is a great place. I worked there for 6 years back in my late high school and college days.
I'll keep checking this thread for details.

Anyone up for some La Shish
Let's see how strong Brads stomach is
Padd the Pepto.
Tiger game sounds cool.. not sure if I'll attend or not.
Pizza Pappolis (sp) is a good choice to eat at in Greektown. Or head up to National Coney Island and get some greasey food there. And you must try a Faygo Rock N' Rye
I can give you guys the city tour... I like to drive out of town folks over the Rouge bridge with the windows rolled down
mmmmmmm love that smell.
I think you'll enjoy going to Greenfield Village, Rouge Plant tour and all that jive. Greenfield village is good if you're a history buff.
Mustang related... you must drive up Woodward... and Telegraph and Gratiot. And I-696
There's that 50's McDonalds on Telegraph in Dearborn that people sometimes hang out at. Or there's always Hooters.

...Rock 'N' Rye? Hmmm I like the pinnaple/orange and peach and grape the best.
Haha, 696 ...that's Michigans own little autobahn Brad if you don't know what she's talking about lol. As for the other 3, you can't say you've seen what Michigan has unless you hit woodward or Gratiot, telegraph is cool but there are cops hiding in the good stretches  I cruise tele and woodward all the time...tele cause my college is located on 10mile and Evergreen right off Telegraph or the lodge depending on which side you come from. As for Woodward, I'm there cause the always have like mini car shows every weekend on and around 13 mile, and if it's a warm night you can find cruisers out there.
I'll be on 696 tonight when I get out of class...even though that's going away from my home.

Our flight arrives in Detroit at about 5pm eastern on Sunday. We'll need to grab our luggage and rental car and check into the hotel in Southgate. Y'all want to go to dinner Sunday night?
I might be able to come out. Depends on what you guys end up doing and when. I don't work weekends, and get outta work at 4 weekdayz.
And hey Travis, don't knock the Shish, as Dareen pointed out, Chicken Schwarma is the shizzle. I can't believe how good that stuff is...
Mmm, makes me wanna call up my ex-girlfriend who is Lebanese, and have her make me some Middle Eastern food.

Cool.. you got that hotel. I think you guys are gonna like that one
If you need help with any directions, lemme know. That hotel is in the city next to mine and up the same street I live off of. SUPER easy to get there from the airport and easy to get to AAI also and to Dearborn.. only problem is they are doing construction on Southfield, just before it turns into the highway.. but I can give you a road to take that'll get you on Southfield with no problem.
I can meet up for dinner on Sunday night.
La Shish If we wanna go here for dinner. Not sure if you kids can handle the food
Sometimes I can't
La Shish will tend to give you the La Shhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiii (shut yo' mouth)'s
TMI hahaha
Or another good place would be Buddy's Pizza on Michigan Ave...
Or Pizza Papalis I think it'll be cool to take him to a non chain place... or something unique to Detroit and the surrounding area.
If anyone wants to PM me their celly... I'll PM you mine and we can try to get the ball rollin'
Oh and Rouge Bridge drive over tour is A MUST!!! You can not understand what it's like to be in Detroit... until you smell like Detroit

You guys pick the restaurant; anything is fine with Bridget and me, but we hear that you guys have some good middle eastern food.
Please let me know ASAP if you can go to the Tigers game. I'll pay for your tickets (up to two per person). I'll put them at will call under The Mustang Source and your name, so I'll need your full name.

Sunday is a tentative for me...Monday looks pretty wide open. I'll keep checkin' the posts here to see whe the decisions are...Tiger game on Monday looks very good. I looked at home, I've got 2 free ticket vouchers for that Monday night's game.
That sounds like alot of fun. I am not sure if I could make it though being a weekday and the fact that I'm a good 1 1/2 or so from Detroit. By the time I get out of work and down that way, a good part of the evening would be over with (plus I have the drive home and work the next morning :bang: ). Still, keep me in the loop as well just incase.
As for ideas, the only other thing I can think of would be a Romeo Engine Plant tour. I just went on one during the Woodward Dream Cruise week and it was pretty cool. The niche line was assembling Ford GT motors

Hello, Brad - I'd like to join in LaShish on Sunday night if people pick that restaurant, and I am tentatively 'yes' on the ballgame on Monday. I will let you know within 24 hours of this post for sure.
When is your flight back to AL?

Our flight leaves DTW at 5:05 pm eastern on Tuesday.
Between the Launch Celebration, tour of The Henry Ford, Rouge Factory Tour, Tigers game, Roush Museum, Benson Ford Research Center, and one other thing I'm working on, we'll be rushed to get it all done!

It looks like I can definetely meet you at the Tiger's game. Keep me posted on your agenda. Like I said, I am in Dearborn, so if you need any guidance, assistance, picking up of The Henry Ford Tix, etc., just say the word.
