referee stations
hi,
just wanted to know if anyone knows of the regulations in california concerning putting in a bigger engine than what came out of the factory. i've been told it's illegal in california to put in a bigger engine, unless it's a classic. the only way is to get an approval from a referee station. i've got a 1995 v6 mustang, and i'd like to get a v8 engine from a 1999 and up gt or cobra. would i have to get the approval from the referee station before or after putting in the engine? i'm waiting till my current engine gives out, then i'll decide if it's worth the hassel of putting in a v8 or if i'll just go with a current v6. also, would i have to get a referee approval if i was to put in a v6 from a 2005, since it's going to be a 4.0, and mines a 3.8? by the way, can't wait for the 05, looking on getting a boss or mach 1 if they come out, and passing on mine to my younger cousin B) . thanks.
