Galphin Ford...at the 405....
Has anyone ordred an '05 Mustang from Galphin Ford (close to the 405 in the San Fernando Valley). They claim they have 70 GT's 'in bound' and can get mine in 8 weeks.....dealers where I live (North Carolina)are telling me 12 weeks and one dealer within two miles of my house said all of his '05 Mustang allocations have been used.
By the way, according to some dude at Pasadena Ford, they (Pasadena Ford - not Galphin) mark up V6s $5,000 and GTs $10,000. Does anyone know if this is true?

Galpin is a very large dealership and have a whole bunch of cars and do have a whole load of these cars ordered from their allocation as for it only taking 8 weeks I dont think they can speed up the process any faster than anyone else. I orginally put an order through with them back in September because I was told by my orignal dealer that my order kept getting pushed back so I figured I would try a large dealer like Galpin even though it meant going to LA to get it (Im in SD). They told me thatthey had over a 100 on order and they would put my name on an order and one that came in that matched my order in their allocation that no one already had their name on that I could get that one and they would just substitute the one I ordered for their allocated one when it came in so that they could sell me one faster and not lose their allocation. Make sense? They also claimed that this would only take 6-8 weeks and probably would be sooner than that. Well even though they always seemed to have at least one on the lot at all times and at times would get 8 GTs in in one weekend I ended up getting my original order first and that was on Dec. 12th. The problem with their promise to get the car in so quick due to their huge allotment is that so many people want them and what they neglect to tell you is that their is a very long list of people ahead of you that want one and you have to wait until not only the car you want comes in but no one before you on the list wants it as well. On top of that Galpin has very bad customer service and jerks you around, if you do deal with them make sure you get everything the way you want it and in writing or they WILL change their minds on you and try to gouge you. They originally told me that they would do x plan and then said no but they werent marking it up and then the week I got my car they called me and told me that there would be a mark up but it was less than other dealers, when it was the standard 3000 at the time. As for what other dealers are asking I dont know about each one but the dealer that originally sold mine down here to me for xplan is now asking 36440 for a GT with all the options.
I got my from them and I had no problems. I ordered it 10/31 and the salesman Akbar Kabir kept me in touch every step of the way until I got the call to pick her up on 1/7. I put my order in and recieved exactly what I wanted. As far as I know Galpin has been selling them for MSRP no mark-up, all the other dealerships I contacted were at least $2000 over. The service department is not the best or quickest but they are the largest dealership around with alot a cars in the service bays at one time. They did acommodate when I need my shaker system replaced but it did take a little longer than I expected but it now finally works properly.

While waiting for my Mustang to arrive (ordered at -plan from Star Ford in Glendale on 10/20) I stopped by Pasadena Ford when the 05 started coming in and at that time they were marking all Mustangs up $5000.
Then in early March I was driving by Pasadena Ford and I saw an 05 Mustang GT Vert w/upgraded wheels and tires on the lot. They added $4995 for wheels and tires and an additional $10000 on top of that $48.000 for an 05 Mustang GT Vert.
And before you call Star Ford about ordering at x-plan...the last I heard is they no longer accept plans on the 05 Mustangs.
in the Focus world, Galpin is known as a good place to get the car cheap, but never a good place for service. Of course, you're in NC so I guess that wouldn't matter. As has already been said, get your deal in writing.
