Going to Pensacola
I'm headed down to Pcola for a couple of weeks on travel with the Navy. Anything good going on the next couple of weeks down there? Any drag strips or races going on? Willing to drive a few hours on the weekend. I was going to stop by the Boss place and check that out. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!
I don't know about any current events, There may or may not be anything going on at Panama City Beach for spring break.
There is a 1/8 mile track about 30 minutes east of Pensacola called Emerald Coast dragway. Might be best to give them a call and make sure they're open.
Here's some info...
From I-10 Exit 45, go north 1 mile to 90. Go west on 90 2.8 miles and turn on Garner Landing Road. The track is on the left after about 1 mile.
850-537-7223 (track)
850-857-4376 (weekdays and evenings)
Address:
7134 Garner Landing Road
Holt, FL 32564
Things are still "up in the air" in a lot of ways in the area after the hurricane. I'd imagine Pensacola beach is still not fully up to speed. I haven't been through there since late October of last year though. I was stationed there from late 97 to late 2000, so if I can be of any more help, let me know.

The Shinoda shop. It's under the tuners section. Just looking for stuff to do in the evenings and over the 5th and 6th. It doesn't all have to do with cars. I'll take other suggestions. I was considering going to Daytona for Bike Week.
Bike Week is a blast, I went every year I could when I was in Jacksonville. It's about a 7 hour drive from Pensacola though. As far as night life in Pensacola, Seville Quarter was the place to go when I was there, hopefully it's opened back up by now after the storm. Ask almost anyone, they'll give you directions. Some people don't like it much, but I always had fun there.

I haven't been to the track, so I can't comment. The beach is open, but it is still too cold for bikinis. I'm looking forward to the show in March.
Don't expect much from the Shinoda shop. I stopped by and was sorely disappointed. It is an old run-down car dealership where he uses the garage facilities. If you check out the team Shinoda website or any of his posts and see how badly his grammar and spelling is, then you have an idea about the way he runs his garage. (I'm not re-hashing the whole argument in the Tuner section, but the correlation was true.)
If you are into older Stangs there is a shop in Pace (about 10 mins from the Shinoda shop) called Salter's classic autos. They mostly do restorations and rarely have any cars for sale, but they are one of the best Mustang restoration shops in the US. They have a couple of really nice old cars up there and a '67 Shelby GT500 that was still in primer the last time I stopped by.
Hope this helps.
