As excited as I am about this whole thing - I do have a concern over how much gas will be by then. WTF - this is really stupid paying $3.10+ for 93 octane.

Just made my reservations so I'm definitely going.
Leaving after work on Thursday Aug. 31st.
I'll be going up US 231 N. from Dothan to Montgomery then I-65N to B'ham in case anyone else might be taking that route.

IF I get my Mustang within the next week like I'm hoping, (Thanks Mom and Dad!) then I will be there! Also, I would love to drive down with the other St. Louis metro area folks. This should be an awesome last hurrah before I move to Greece in December!

Just finished registering for the show. I have a long drive up from Tampa, FL, but I know it will be worth it. I lucked out in that my parents just moved to Birmingham, so I know I will have a place to stay. Can't wait to meet everyone there.

Jason - I believe our group is headed through there if we are still swinging WEST to join up with some folks from LA and such..... I had the rough times sketched out from when we might be hitting Dothan but don't have them on me right now..... lets see about coordinating.

Jonathon - MTAS is from PLant City and will be bringing a group over from there, and meeting me coming over from Deltona and Orlando. You should hook up with us for the caravan up north!

Acadian was organizing the group coming from the west so with his car situation, I don't know if he is still going - but so far, MTAS and I haven't changed our plans so still planning on the swing west. (crazy - I heard Route 66 (Tony) from 2005stang was trying to make it too and hook up with us! He's from Arizona or something..))

I roughly sketched out timing using online maps an estimated distance/speed and if we leave the Orlando area meet at 4:30 am (ouch!!) I am guessing we can be in Dothan by somewhere around NOON. So right around midday somehwere.

Maybe being from the area you can give some insight - I was GUESSING:

Dothan to Montgomery - 104.7 miles = 2 hrs 45 minutes?

Montgomery to Birmingham - 92.4 miles = 2hrs?

So roll into the hotel around 5-ish?

[I REALLY want to know if there is a pressure wash place close to the hotel as I am sure my Pony will want a bath after that ride - especially being on display the next day...]

Just checked my "streets & Trips" program because that Dothan to Montgomery time was way too long

Those times are pretty long. My "Streets & Trips" is usually pretty accurate and it says Dothan to Montgomery is 1 hr, 50 minutes (pretty close to 'real world' times) and Mongomery to B'ham is 1 hr, 13 min.

Also it says Orlando to Dothan is 5 hr, 15min, 360 miles.

If you guys wanted to leave any later, that would be fine with me. Not sure if I can get off early the day before I take a vacation day.
Might just have to take 2.

Yeah man - take two!

Actually was glad to read your responses - I would rather factor in too much time than run real late. I always try and account for Xfactors that could happen...

We'll lock things down as we get closer - are you staying at the main hotel?

The Mariott on Grandview? Yes.
I'm going to ask for 2 days so I'll have some extra time to detail the car and won't feel too rushed.

Just got my confirmation from the MCA.
Anyone else already signed up? I assume we won't have any problems parking together since all of the '05+ cars will be "Display Only".

Hey Brad, we're not going to have any problems parking together, are we? Is there any way you can set up a corral for us?

From the MCA website:
At past events we have had many request to park Special Interest/Limited Edition cars together. We plan honor as many of those as possible by parking these vehicles in corrals. On the classes page is a list of proposed corrals. Only corrals with at least 15 cars will be filled. To be allowed to park in a special group corral requires pre-registration (no exceptions).

Well, due to scheduling conflicts around the time of the Alabama meet I won't be able to attend. I have a reservation for one room at the Birmingham Marriott (http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/BHMMC); I'd rather see another forum member get this room - if anyone wants it, I'll let you call the hotel to see if my reservation can be moved to another individual. PM me if interested.

From the MCA website:
I'm a little confused. I registered as soon as registrations opened up a few months ago, and I checked the MCA website 30th Anniversary form, and there is a class for '05 open and '05 closed. So I'm not sure why you think the '05's and up are "Display Only". I registered my '05 closed for the class, along with both of my '78's.

Who all is coming from the St. Louis area and when are you leaving?? You can PM me and let me know. This is going to be an AWESOME time! We went to the 40th, and I honestly thought I had died and went to Mustang Heaven when we drove into the Nashville Speedway. Great time! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and getting to meet you all!
