New Book: The Mustang Dynasty
The Mustang Dynasty
By John M. Clor
By John M. Clor
With more than 8 million sold over the past four-plus decades, the Ford Mustang is one of the most iconic American automobiles ever produced. Just as everyone has a Mustang story, the story of the Mustang has been told many times. And although a good number of respected journalists have produced hundreds of publications chronicling the history of Ford's famed "Pony Car" over the years, few, if any, have been written with a true insider's perspective. Finally, a veteran journalist who has worked on both sides of Ford's product fence has put together a comprehensive history of the Mustang with an eye toward how this symbol of Americana has survived – and even thrived – after all the trials and tribulations of big-business corporate politics and processes.
In his new hardcover book, The Mustang Dynasty, auto journalist-turned-Ford insider John M. Clor provides context to the story behind every Mustang generation, from the original pony car in 1964 to the heralded 2007 Shelby GT500 Mustang and beyond. But rather than just rehashing years of production information, Clor calls out some of the more compelling tales surrounding the Mustang's development. Several long-held beliefs are challenged, with new light shed on some behind-the-scenes dealings. Featuring a foreword by the father of the current Mustang, Hau Thai-Tang, this book offers a unique view from the roller-coaster ride that has marked Mustang's long and storied product life.
In addition to 150 photographs, this exclusive package features 15 removable artifacts that can help jump-start even a novice Mustang fan's memorabilia collection. Included are reproductions of a 1965 Owner's Manual, a 1979 Official Indy Pace Car bumper sticker, a reproduced 2003 Mach 1 logo patch, and even an audio CD of Mustang engine sounds. With never-before-told stories, beautifully detailed images and a collection of authentic memorabilia, The Mustang Dynasty offers a vibrant tribute to an American classic and is an absolute “must-have” for any Mustang fan.
Author John M. Clor is a longtime journalist and automotive editor who serves as the communications manager for the Ford Performance Group, where he works with Mustang clubs and develops content for the SVT.Ford.com website. The owner of three ‘70s-era Mustangs, Clor is also a regular columnist for Mustang Enthusiast magazine.

I have this book. It was given to me has a birthday present a month after my birthday. When the book was ordered it had not been published yet. It is a very interesting read with lots of old brochures, stickers and invitation to Ford events from previous years. It also makes a very interesting item (conversation piece) in the mustang display area.
