Working at the dealership, I met a husband and wife who happen to have 6, (yes 6) , authentic Shelby Mustangs. She mentioned to me that if you want to, you can send items to Carroll Shelby's Foundation, with a donation, and he will sign items for you. Well, I did some searching, went on the website, and sent out my Lane Diecast Shelby GT350, at the beginning of the month. When I got home from work, I saw a package from the Foundation, and this is what was inside

The man himself, Carroll Shelby signed it exactly where I wanted it, on the roof. . This is now my centerpiece of my diecast collection. For anyone who wants to do this, just go to this site, Shelbychildrendsfoundation.org. I'll let you all know, it costs $100 for memoribilia to get signed, and $200 for any car part. The money is a donation to the foundation. His foundation is for children who need organ transplants. I'm 28 and had a liver transplant on October 7th 2003, so his foundation is real close to my heart. I had no problem with the small contribution. Being as sick as I was while waiting for my transplant, I know exactly how these kids feel. It is the greatest feeling ever, when your on the waiting list, and you get a call stating they found a match for you. The man is a saint in my eyes. If you ever wanted his signature, check out the site, and send him something. It's all for a great cause. .
I just wanted to share my new item with the rest of you, and pass along the info of getting items signed, incase some of you want to get your gloveboxes signed.

Hey Keith, that's not even funny . I am a huge Carroll Shelby fan, and Mustang fan, and this is staying in my collection till I die. I would never ever think of selling it on ebay. I know some would, but not me. Seeing what his foundation does for kids with transplant needs, and having had one myself, I really appreciate what Carroll has done with the latter part of his life. Having gone through something this big makes you appreciate things a little differently than before. That's why I didn't even flinch about sending a donation to him. If I owned a 2005, I would have sent the Glovebox door .

I never thought I would ever have the opportunity to get his autograph. He was at the A.C Classic Car Auction several years ago, but I was way to sick to drive from Eastern Pa to N.J, so for the chance to get this means the world to me. This is my most prized automotive collectable and it isn't going anywhere.
