Perhaps this is old news, but I'm way behind on things in general, and it's taking a lot to get caught up.

One interesting promos with Hot Wheels is the Mexico Quaker State Promotion that should be going on since July or so. A free basic car will come with purchase of Quaker State.

All of the cars have identical custom blisters which do not have the name of car listed. What makes this interesting is that the cars being used for this promotion are for the most part older 2002-2003 decos that have been reproduced by the plant. So as might be expected when the plant re-runs older cars, there is bound to be some differences. Here are the Ford cars, the variations and differences as I've heard.

Don't be suprised if other variations appear over time or if there are slight differences not noted, but this will be a tough set for collectors to acquire:

T-Bird Stocker - Race team deco from 2002, but with 3 spoke wheels, black plastic Malaysia base (instead of 5 spoke, gray China)

Mustang Cobra - Silver, Sweet Rides series, no differences (made in malaysia)

Ford GT-90 - Open Stock 2002 (#240) - Made in Malaysia with new style logo on the base (not sure if original had that logo). Additionally, the tampo seems more of a gold color than before, but not sure

'99 Mustang - Red, Birthday Gift Pack, made in Malaysia instead of Thailand

1957 T-Bird - Race Team, 2002, no difference

Ford F-150 (Tooned) - Red, first edition, no differences

40 Somethin - White, Roll Patrol - Doesn't have the interceptor tampo on roof and Hot Wheel logo on side is white.

68 Mustang Tooned - Dark Blue, first editions - No differences

32 Ford - Black, Flyin Aces Series - Black, red chrome 5 spokes, made in malaysia, no noticeable differences.

The cards for these cars have holes in them (I guess to slip over plastic quarts of oil or such). and the printing at the top is upside down (so things on either side of the quart is right side up). Some of the cards seem to have made their way into regular Hot Wheels shipments to places here in the 'States. One guy said he found one in a 'G' case in San Diego...

So who do we know down there?
