Okay, I was just at Walmart, and I think I saw what you guys are talking about.

It ISN'T a GT500E.

The car I saw was a 1/25 scale Shelby GT500 by Revell. The body is diecast and prepainted Pepper Gray with black Le Mans stripes. The box is yellow and light brown, and the name of the series is "The Car is the Star". There is no mention of "Gone in 60 Seconds" anywhere on the box. The other two cars I saw with the same style boxes were a '68 Dodge Charger R/T (from Bullitt) and a C2 Corvette convertible. There was no mention of any specific movie on any of the boxes. The caption on the back of all of them said something like "You may not remember the movie, but you remember the car...".

This car is identical to the car previously released as a Brittany Blue version with a figure of Carroll Shelby.

Or did you guys see something different?

bsmith13 is correct. I bought this model the other day at wal-mart and it is NOT an exact replica of eleanor. It's just as bsmith13 said, a repainted version of the blue shelby. But it's still a cool car for only $14. and it only took me like 2 hours to assemble, I'll post a couple pics of it shortly.
There was, in fact, a set made by hot wheels for the 60 sec's movie (w/cage). It contained 4 cars, 1 being eleanor. I'm not sure how 'exact' eleanor looks in this set because I don't have it nor have I seen any decent pics of it close-up. I believe they are 1:64 scale though. The set is going on ebay right now for over $40.

I do have the Hot Wheels "Gone in 60 Seconds" set.

The "Eleanor" from this set is another '67 GT500 in Pepper Gray with black stripes. It isn't the modified version.

Here are some pics of the 'wal-mart eleanor'. I tossed the box already so I dont have any pics of that. Sorry for the crappy pics, I used my webcam. But as you can see, it's far from the real eleanor, just a normal GT500.

Still no 'real' eleanor models....so sad!

Oh well... thanks for verifying this for me anyway! I'm still holding out hope that one day I'll get my hands on an exact replica of Eleanor.

Still not the GT500E, but in 1/18th scale, how hard would it be to modify? This appears to me to come close.

More Pics are at this site.

Although out of stock, there is one currently on ebay:

A diecast? Nearly impossible to modify and do it well. And it comes as close to resembling Eleanor as a 1:1 '67 Shelby would. In other words: not very! Every single custom part would have to be fabricated - including those complicated wheels.

There are some folks on the Hobby Heaven forum that have been putting together a transkit for over a year now. Many of those people are true artists when it comes to creating scale model parts, and they're still not done. It's definately not a conversion for the faint of heart. I know I wouldn't tackle it, and I've been modeling for over 30 years.

Sorry...

http://www.modelcarkits.com/

Very friendly forum with some very knowledgeable people. I've seen folks there insist that their models be wired with correct firing order. No joke!

I would love to have a diecast Eleanor

Here's the only Eleanor I could find.

I just don't feel like paying more for a bronze scuplture than I did my car :notnice:

Not trying to get off topic, but the tailights are as wrong as the designation for my Shelby model. It says in the stripes GT500 KR and it's a 67. There is no such thing. But oh well.

Another GT500 -- in 1/24 scale

That is a poorly detailed model if I've ever seen one...
