Ford Oilers & Cans
Anyone collect these old Ford handy oil type tins? How about the quart cans or racing oil cans? I like them for display in my garage. GM, Mopar, and all the gas/oil companies seemed to have them.
That is great garage decor, where did you collect these pieces from?
I have a hodge-podge of "automobilia" in my garage, mostly things I inherited from my Pop.

Thanks! Most are from gas/oil petroliana shows held in the southeastern US. I know these shows are held all over the US and hopefully they will return when this Covid crap ends.. I also get some things from ebay but it's tough to win at decent prices.

Not that any of the rest isn't nifty... some bring back memories of back when and things. But I just really like those wrenches!
Thanks! Although I bought my wrenches at petroliana shows, there are numerous listings on ebay. The shipping is the part that stinks but if you want some, there are certainly many. Here is one listing just to give you an idea. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-For...kAAOSw5w5gDE-V

Oh a Month or So Back I Had a Can of Ford Cylinder Head Gasket Adhesive from the Late 70'S on a Top Shelf in My Chemical Storage Area Explode. The Garage Got to 125 Degrees at Roof Level at the Time. The Can Was up About 7 Ft. High. Funny I Had Just Checked The Temp with My Laser Temp Gun Earlier That Day When Trying to Optimize A/C & Fans Around the House. Having A Major Heatwave at the Time!
I Heard Hissing Out in The Garage And Was Trying to Figure Out What it was. Lucky for Me I was At the Tail End of the Release. As I Walked Past and Felt and Ice Cold Wetness on the Side of My Head and it was Fairly Close to an Eye. Took a Minute to Figure out What Was Going on.
The Shelving Has a Bunch of 6x9 Enclosures and Made the Spray Direct Pretty Much Straight Out. The Can Looked Great But I Guess the Contents had Settled and the Bottom Seam Gave Way. It was Like Like Epoxy Sticky Pancake Syrup Texture and Luckily Missed my Eye as That would have Likely Blinded me. As it Was, it Ruined Some Laundry and Took a Couple of Days to Finally Dry & Not Be Sticky.
So I Post this To Warn you if Have old Aerosol Spray Cans in Your Collection Be Advised. It Could Ruin Something or Injure You Under High Heat Conditions or Just Age Failure. If You Have Some You May Want to Evacuate Contents! And Not By Putting a Hole in the Can By Striking! {BOOM} Just an FYI!
I Thought a Pic Was in Order. I Could Not Find The Bad Can So Grabbed a Good One! I Got about Half a Dozen of These and They All Look Like Great Shape But You Never Know!
Says Contains Isopropyl Alcohol & Methylene Chloride Kind Of Nasty Stuff! Says EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE! {Molotov Cocktail Spray Can!} Oh My! I Better Do Something With These! Says Not To Store over 120 Degrees! Well There You Go! Been in the Garage Since Late 90's! Never Got That Hot Before! Time To Rethink My Chemical Storage! Come To Think of It My Attic Fan Was Off after I Found It Was Not Helping at those High Temps. That is What I Was Checking That Day! Man If That Had Been on it was Right By Can and a Hot Motor! OH MY. The Lord Blessed me That Day! Amen!

^^^ Still collecting but also thinning out at the same time. I am selling some of the expensive lead top oilers, and oil cans that I can live without. Instead of having 12 Shell or Esso cans I figured I can get by with 6 or so. Look at this rare Veedol I have for sale at the moment. Serious bidding. https://www.ebay.com/itm/266589688639
Always looking for Ford, GM, and Mopar cans.
Here are my latest photos of the Big 3 and some others.
For Shame If You Have Any Squeeks Around the House!
Ya That Auction is Quite a Surprise. I Know I Can Go Through Boxes of NOS Parts and Only Once in Awhile You Get a Jaw Dropper. I Got My Start with an NOS Side Marker Assembly For a 71 Road Runner. Must Have Been Early 2000's And There Were No Repops and I Got Close To $500.00 For It! It's What Got Me Hooked on Ebay Back in The Day! And Here is the Kicker It Was in a Pile of Parts A Friends Dad Just Dumped In My Driveway he Got out of a Recently Closed Body Shop! It Was Not as Easy To Identify Parts Back Then as it Is Now For People! Lots Of Book Work in Old Parts Books Etc. It Fit My Pistol Back then Pretty Good!
