Comparo: Eleanor 1/64 Diecasts!
Comparo: Eleanor 1/64 Diecasts!
As many of you may already know, the heavily modified '67 GT500 from the movie Gone in 60 Seconds nicknamed "Eleanor" is highly sought after. The film came out back in 2000, but only until late 2006 did authentic replications of this beauty show up in toy aisles. The first rendition was done by Shelby themselves, under the title Shelby Collectibles. These were hard to beat, accurate size, details beyond belief including opening hoods, doors and rubber tires. The cars also included separate plastic engines, headlights, and taillights. Not to mention, multiple color variations. The full scale cars were produced in Farmer's Branch, TX by. now bankrupt and out of business, Unique Performance with high dollar price tags.
I don't know about all of you. But, ever since I laid eyes on Eleanor in the movie theatres, I wanted a diecast of her. Once, I heard that SC was going to produce these diecast I impatiently waited months to find them. When I finally did, I was in heaven.
Now that Unique Performance is no more. The patented body kit design of Eleanor, originally penned by Steve Standford, Hotwheels was the first to copy it in their new for 2008, Walmart only, Modern Classic line. I finally just got one from a friend in TN because the stores here in CO have not reset yet.

Here are my comparison shots...

Note the chassis is copied by HW particularily the exhaust system...

The gas cap, side exhaust, from bumper and rear bumpers and hood are all replicating the UP car.

Tell me what you guys think...thanks for reading...

My only complaint of the 1/64 SC Eleanor is the hood won't close all the way. I looked at all the ones the store had and the same thing. Other than that I love it. I also have the 1/18. I really love that one!
