Is Your Premier Trim Package Complete?

I've had the car since December, and I was at a car show this past weekend (by the way, I got 3rd place in the class) when somebody told me I didn't have all the Premier Trim Package pieces in my car. I have the racing pedals, and the soft touch arm rests and dash top with the stitched edges, but don't have the same trim features on the center console lid - it's the standard console lid. I confirmed it in the 2007 Mustang brochure I have when I got home that the Premier Trim should be on the center console lid also. Since the car is still under warranty, I'm going to the dealer later this week to get it fixed, but I was wondering if anybody else has this issue with their new car. If so, did you have any issue at the dealer getting it corrected?

The second day I had mine, I noticed something was different between the passenger-side and driver-side doors. When I looked closer, I realized that the passenger-side door didn't have the brushed aluminum door handle or the upgraded door insert!

The dealer fixed it no problem--just had to wait for the parts to come in. It turns out that door insert costs the dealer more than $600 CDN.

My situation may have been a little different from yours--I drove the car off the lot instead of a special order, and it was only a day or two after I took delivery.

You scared me. I just went running down to my car expecting it to be the same way. But, it wasn't!

All is good!

I saw a lot of mistakes on the early 2005 cars--some had the aluminum door sill insert on one side but not on the other, the wrong shift ****, etc. I guess there was a learning curve regarding what came with certain options...

Even though the car is still under warranty, my worry is the dealer is going to try and give me the run around because I've owned the car for 9 months. I've called the service department, and they're going to find out what to do to 'resolve the situation' and call me back. Hopefully, I'll be reporting back some good news...

I had the same issue when I went to pick my car up after ordering it. I noticed it and asked the salesman to fix it. He went and got the proper console lid and attached it. I can't imagine that your dealership would give you a problem. The upgraded lid is nice and matches the other upgraded trim, but it can't be terribly costly. Just ask them to give you what you paid for in December. I got my car in November of last year. I wonder if it was a glitch in the manufacturing process around that time.

It could have been an early production or parts supply issue for the 07's since the Premier Trim was a new feature for the 07. My build date was 9/13/06.

Mine '07 was a very early build (it was built the second week of production). Everything was fine with my PTP.

The dealer might give you a hard time since it has been 9 months, but if they are decent, they will fix it for you no questions asked. You will need to take it back to the dealer you bought the Mustang from since it is a wrong part problem and not a defective part.

Hey I do not have the Premier Trim but I have the IUP. The Shifter **** and the Satin base piece surrounding it, are they part of the Premier Trim or the IUP? It only says Bright Polished Shifter **** it does not show a picture. Thanks for any help.

Well, the service department started off by saying that there's a six month limit on "wrong builds". I thought they were going to try and get out of it since I took delivery last December. Apparently, the dealer has 6 months to claim back to the factory on cars delivered with "wrong builds" (not a consumer warranty clause). The sales manager came out, and he didn't even hesitate after he shook my hand. He had the service department swap it out with a part on a new car on the lot that had the Premier Trim. We were in and out in 15 minutes with a new, correct center console lid installed!! All is right with the world now.

And yes, the satin finished shifter and bezel are also part of the Premier Trim Package.

The also means....The one you have is the one I should have with just the IUP?

Just checking Thanks.

For 2007, the Premier Trim Package comes with the soft touch surface trimmed with stitching on the arm rests, the dash deck and the center console lid. It also includes the satin finished shifter and bezel, along with the racing pedal covers. It was grouped with the Color Accent Package, which includes your choice of 5 interior color combinations, but if you have an all black interior like me, there's really no visual difference. This package requires the IUP also.

The Interior Upgrade Package includes leather wrapped steering wheel with satin-aluminum spokes, satin-aluminum plated shifter and bezel, bright polished register rings, satin door handles, bright polished 6-gauge cluster with MyColor message center, satin door sill scuff plates with MUSTANG lettering, and either satin or woven charcoal aluminum instrument panel appliques.

So, what that means is you get the satin shifter and bezel with either package, and you basically pay for the shifter and bezel twice (like me) if you have both interior packages.

I believe Ford has bundled the interior packages a little differently for the 08 models, but I don't know the details on that.

The shift **** on the PTP and IUP are different. The PTP one is the funny looking all metal one where the IUP is the metal one with black leather sides.

You're correct... I got this wrong. But you do pay for an upgraded shifter twice, albeit, they are two different types... They should give you the other shifter in a box as a spare if you buy both interior packages.

The PTP aluminum shifter looks like a metal phallus while the IUP shifter has a clear plastic covering over a painted silver shift pattern with fake leather sides. The standard shifter is the same as the IUP except the pattern is black with silver text and the sides are molded rubber/plastic.

Yup. I like the IUP one better. I think I'll add an aftermarket one and go with a retro one. Where is the guy that is making the custom ones? I think he was starting with grabber and adding colors later. Including white.

I like the original shift ****, with the leather onthe sides. Does anyone have a pic of that dash pad that comes with PTP?

Like the looks or not, the PTP shifter is solid and totally changes the way the car feels when the shifter is worked. The standard hollow plastic one feels like its made out of balsa wood. But it will feel like a nuclear fuel rod on very hot days

Actually it cost the dealer $0.0
