You won't believe this also
After several e-mails over a couple month period, I placed an order for a TMS member [who shall remain nameless] last Wednesday 12/14. Unfortunately the car got scheduled on Thursday 12/15 for the week of 1/9. The customer said that was way TOO QUICK so I have to reorder next month to allow for a spring delivery. :bang:
I guess we have finally caught up with production as I am getting GT's scheduled within a couple weeks of ordering now.

was it an auto trans? just curious because my buddy ordered an 06 premium with spoiler delete, 5 speed, 18" bullits etc. and was told it may not be an 06 model but an 07.........go figure. He was told the turn around on the autos is much quicker.

It is a 5-speed manual.

However, the dealer I go through is one of the EXTREMELY few dealers that moves out Mustangs in my area (Buffalo, NY). I really am not in a hurry to get mine since winter is here but some people (myself included) don't have the resources (Money, time, energy, etc.) to find another dealer.
As much as I may want to go to someone else it would actually be more of a hassle :bang: than staying with the dealer I ordered from.
Since June 05, Ford has been building more Mustangs each month than the # sold. So after 7-/2 months of extra production, things should be pretty much caught up.
By March 06, the dealer lots should be loaded with Stangs (including GTs) just in time for the peak spring selling months. ( Historically, March - April - May & June are the months with the highest Mustang sales).

I would guess that the dealer your buddy ordered from doesn't have enough available allocations to get him a car. Try another dealer.
I was told basically the same thing by a dealer on the day I ordered mine (10/20/04)..."if you order today you're not going to get your car for a year". I hung up the phone and called another dealer and he told me "order today and you'll have the car in six weeks"
Car was built and shipped on 12/14 and drove home on 12/28.

OC Welch Ford in Beaufort SC.
They even paid to have the overspray removed even though I had already taken delivery.
I guess I am the lucky one. I went to the dealership to order mine. Placed my order only to be called back and told they had no more allocations, but I could go ahead and do a search for a Mustang. This was a Wednesday...I had my Mustang on Saturday. But...I did not get the "Fan Blades" I wanted...Oh well, there is always mailorder, right?

Suit yourself, I drove mine 700miles home from the dealer. Of course that was the closest dealer that had allocations and would sell at MSRP.

I just wanted to point out that sometimes it is not as simple as "Find Another Dealer" There are ALWAYS extenuating circumstances that prevent some from doing even the simplest of tasks.
Aside from that. I'm glad you got your pony and I bet the drive home was amazing. :worship: May the gods smile on you and yours.

It's not that I don't want to, it's I don't have the ability to. If I could take the time and had some extra cash I would go through a southern dealer in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I have neither so I wait and wait until Ford and the ERL decide my car is to be built.

Order it from another dealer, have them drop ship it to your dealer, it will add a couple hundred on for paper work but you could get it alot sooner.

All in all I actually don't mind the wait. I've been waiting about 20 years to buy not only a new car but a new Mustang. A few more months doesn't bother me. In the end, I'll get it be happy and have a s##t eating grin on my face for the rest of my life.
