Yahoo.... Take my car in for $200 detail on May 7th.

I'm really looking forward to seeing it look as good as the day I bought it. This business has quite a reputation as the best in Longview (Shep's Place), and is backlogged to the max. I actually scheduled a month ago and this was the soonest I could get in.

It is full exterior only, and will be removing all water spots (including glass) and then buff and wax. No cutting the paint with any compounds (I asked). I was going to have the interior and leather for another $100, but my other half says 'no'....that we will do that ourselves.

Why pay??

A little elbow grease and the right products is all you need.

i could see getting it professionally done if they were going to use some compounds and abrasives, but if its just a "buff and wax" which sounds like a polish and wax, that could be done in a few hours by hand. i did it last week and it came out perfect. saved myself the money of a "professional" job and doing it myself gave me a better sense of pride for my ride.

I would also avoid interior details unless they are told not to use any dressing whatsoever on the plastic interior parts.

I've got water spots that are unbelievably bad, and I rubbed and rubbed and can't get them out. It's on the paint and glass, and it's probably because I didn't wax it for quite some time after I bought it. Anyway, this under the circumstances is money well spent. I'm sure this guy uses state of the art materials if he is gonna make all spots vanish without cutting the paint/clearcoat.

Seems kind of pricey for just an exterior buff and wax.

$200 for a polish and wax is pretty steep. For $200 I think the interior should be included.

+2.

After you get it done, stay on top of it by laying down a coat of wax/polish yourself every so often* to maintain it's high gloss.

* If you car spends most of it's time outside, I'd say every 4 weeks is in order.

I found a leaflet yesterday from a local detail shop. They offer both exterior and interior for $200. It includes wash, wax, interior glass dressing, shampooing, and "more". I don't know what "more" includes.

Just thought I'd share the info. It's not anything I'm interested in since I do my own wash and wax.

$200 is a steep. I am wanting to get the same thing done. When I went around town to find a shop I liked, they all quoted me 80-125 for the exterior. Thats with my vinyl stripes being taped off.

I will do it for half that price.

Sounds like you are getting a raw deal to me.

Keep in mind y'all that I have water spots that are absolutely terrible. He has cleared out the day for my car. He's got incredible word of mouth as the best in town and a good christian man. I'm sure I could beat the price at a lot of different places. Sure, $200 is more than pocket change, but I feel like I am getting what I am paying for, which may not be true at some other shops.

In some things, the best bargin is not the best deal...

If you trust this shop, then it is money well spent...

The shop owner called me yesterday and needed to re-schedule until the following Monday (14th) due to a death in his family and funeral service on the 7th. I know what he's going through as I just lost my Mom 8 weeks ago. My car will just have to wait another week until her pampering.
