X-Plan and the Mustang GT
#1
I just got set up with the X-Plan with my PIN and all and noticed it said I was to notify the dealer when I order said vehicle. I called my dealer today (ordered 5/31) and told them i had the X-Plan, to which she responded, "The X-Plan is available on everything BUT the Mustang GT, it applies to the v6 and convertibles, but not the GT." As I have read online...it should apply to ALL vehicles doesn't it?
The plan would have saved me $2400....now im back up to 30k for a car...

Actually I ran into this problem myself. Dealers are not REQUIRED to accept x-plan at all. They get incentives by doing it however if they feel that they can make more money by not selling at x-plan they won't. As long as they are honest and tell you upfront they are well within their right. The problem lies when they do things like they did to me when they accepted x-plan and when the car came in they tried to go back on the deal. I threatened a lawsuit and got my car.

X-plan is available on almost all Ford vehicles [no F450-F750 or Ford GT]. All Mustangs are eligible but it is up to each dealer on whether he or she accepts a plan deal. Ford does not require them to sell at plan prices. So the dealer was somewhat truthful [at their dealership] the x-plan is not available on the Must GT.

Look around for a different dealer!!

I went to 5 different dealers. 2 of them would order a GT on the X-Plan. 2 had GT's on the lot, but would not sell them on the X-Plan.
I don't know how much of a deposit you put down, but I would almost consider cancelling the order and going elsewhere. On the downside, you may lose your deposit and even worse, you will have to wait longer for your ride.

You shouldn't lose your deposit as long as the car hasn't been scheduled to be built

Uh...I see you read that the other important part of using X-plan is identifying yourself as X-plan eligible to the salesperson right after you say your name. Even if the dealership were taking x-plan, they still could tell you no for trying to change the terms of your deal after the fact.
I went 500 miles to find a dealer to take X-plan. If you want to save $$$ you gotta work for it.

Yea I just didnt even know about the x-plan until after I had ordered the car. You can see i am already scheduled...so i cant really back out. That $28,989 is after all taxes and fees, i'm getting the car for MSRP. Oh well..i'm still getting a mustang right!
