WOW!!! I have seen your postings since you got your Pony, I am sorry she is wrecked.

I'm sure others will say this as well, but here goes: At least YOU are ok!!!! The car can be replaced!

Did you have a roll bar? If not then you are doubly lucky! Can you imagine if you had rolled the car?

Generally, as long as your policy does not include the words "on surface used for racing" and the laps are not being timed as for competition, companies pay.

I know just how you feel, Rev. I wrecked my car at Road Atlanta back in May (it was raining, put it into a concrete wall at turn 5). Like you, no injuries but in my case the car was totaled - I guess I was lucky it was deemed a total loss really since the insurance settlement paid for a new 07.

Way I look at it though is, at least the old car went out in a blaze of glory.

Most important thing obviously is nobody got hurt. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

Kevin.

Lack of photo evidence is the best thing for any on track accident. A lot of times insurance companies will scour the internet looking for photo evidence of an track accident involving a street car and cancel the policy. I know this for a fact as this happened to one of our club members. He had an off-track excursion, claimed it on insurance and unbeknown to him someone took photos and posted it on a BBS. Somehow the insurance company caught wind of the photos and his claim was thrown out and he got dropped.

So, that's a bit of an insult.

Your post was informative until the last statement. No need to be a ..well..nevermind. I didn't think of it. Excellent point.

Well the first thing my insurance co would ask for would be a Police report. If you couldn't show this report , the insurance agent wouldn't even talk to you.

Good Luck

Good Luck
If he had paid, and registered for, Instruction at the Site of the Occurrance, and there is proof of a recorded Learning Session, this may help too. It reduces the probability of Competition in the minds of the Insurance Agcy. Also, true as aforementioned, if there is no Reference in the Owner's Policy of a "Surface used for Competition".

I thought he said he was completely "upfront" with the insurance company?

I'm curious as to what questions the insurance company asked you. Did they ask if you were participating in a driver education session? If so, did you have to provide proof? Most insurance companies will flatly deny a claim that involves anything that smacks of racing or competition.

The reason I ask is that I take my car to the track on occasion. For $30, I can sign up for a driver's education class. If that made the difference in whether I was covered by insurance or not, I'd sign up every time.

i agree with the above question.... I do some racing from time to time...how did you convince your insurance company to cover your claim? I was told if I wreck at the dragstrip my insurance will deny any claim
