I think it was a bargain! Would of done it in a second unless the 68 was a 95+point perfect original car with factory air.

I agree! I did the old/new swap, too. I sold my' 69 driver (that did have air) to finance my new 2005. A guy in Texas bought it and by all reports he's quite happy with his "new" MUstang. And I have a wonderful new driver. It was a win-win situation. The pic below was taken the day before the '69 shipped out.
I also have a '67 coupe that I'm restoring - so I haven't completely given up on the classics!

Great deal for you, can't lose. Bet he saves the vert for you anyway. Plus, now please don't take offense, your vert was not a 26K car. So now your dad does the work, the vert continues to go up in value, hey it's good to be you! Hang on to that 05 long enough and we'll see how value holds up in the long term. Congrats!

Looks like a good trade for sure. You will probably have the privilege of owning the '68 one day again anyway.
And a '68 that nice probably shouldn't be a daily driver - but the '05 CAN be!

I would have taken the deal on 1 condition. He leaves me the car in his will. And I get to take it out for a spin on occasion. Ok so that's 2 conditions. But really I think it was a great bargain. Congrats.

I gave up my 69 Conv.in icon for 1/2 the price of a new 05 Stang. It was beautiful, no rust, perfect paint, flawless. No matter what you do to these old "classics" they can't match up to a new car. Am I sorry? Yeah in a way but I would do it again. Take the new one-------------

Seeing that it's staying in the family I would have done it as well ,and to top it off your dad will definatly take good care of it so there's no worries there.
Just a bit off topic here's a pic of a canadian edsel you can tell from the white steering wheel (canada only) .

That is a sweet looking 69 Chris. Do you miss it?
For me it would be a tough decision . But like Kevin said, the new car is worth more (right now anyway). Congrats on your new 05's
Love that yellow!
