woodward dreamcruise

Anyone here going to mustang alley the day of the dreamcruise? I was lucky enough to be one of the people that got invited to the Friday pre-cruise events as well. Anyone else?

Sam

It took me 45 minutes to go 2 miles north past my condo - the place is packed already. Lots of cool cars out there.

I will be up there Friday night and possibly part of Saturday. It turns into a parking lot by the weekend.

Hey Sam,

If you are talking about the Friday Track Event, then yes I am also going to be there and also on Saturday. i am hoping to get there very early Saturday morning, so I don't get a parking lot spot like previous years.

Doug, I'm local here in Metro-Detroit, so short commute for me. Looking forward to a great weekend!

UMich97 - if you're going to be out here, swing by Saturday - we're having a keg/grill. I'd like to see your car. I'm at 25835 Woodward Ave, Royal Oak, MI. We start around 2:00pm. I'll probably go check out Mustang Alley early in the morning. Parking can be a big issue, but there is a abandoned resturant just south of us with a lot you can park in.

Question: What exactly is going on at the track event? I was all pumped for it, thinking it was something where Mustang owners got to take their car and run some (possibly high speed) laps on their track. But when I got the email announcing the event, it sounded like it was strictly Ford personell driving you around the track in various Ford vehicles. So, not only is it not in your Mustang, but you don't even get to drive. Did I understand that right?

The track event was a first registered first invited separate event for people that had registered for the mustang alley part of the dream cruise. You got to drive your car around their test tract for a couple laps, then you got to do several other events. Hot laps in shelbys, gt 40, boss prototypes, gts and new v6 stangs. a wet skid pad with their drivers going crazy, and then you got to drive a wide range of ford cars, 3 stangs, a taurus sho, a fiesta etc. Over all a great time, but not some free for all with you car on their track that is for sure. we also got to sit in and drool over the new boss 302, and the whole range of ford and lincoln cars and trucks.

by the way, a big thanks to the ford team that put on this event, they were really awesome,

Interesting. Did they have a speed limit on how fast you were allowed to drive your own car on the track? And what were your thoughts of the interior and comfort of the Boss?
