If the next Cobra comes in the fall of 2005 will some of you wait and get a Cobra instead of a GT. I priced insurance today for a GT because I didnt what to wait for the Cobra, now MT says It is going to be here earlier than previous stated in these forums. Does anybody know for sure what is going on.

Motor Trend is likely speculating
Ford already offered the special lease offer for 2004 SVT cobras giving the owners first crack at the next cobra, which comes out in mid 2006 as a 2007 model.

From Autoweek:
Ford plans special Mustangs
Other niche cars are on the way to join the SVT Cobra for '06
Just weeks from the debut of the redesigned 2005 Mustang, Ford is at work on special-edition Mustangs for the 2006 model year. The high-performance SVT Mustang Cobra is slated to reappear for the 2006 model year.

"We've got to look at Machs and Bullitts and Bosses," Lyons said, referring to storied special editions of the past. "We just have to decide which one we want to pull out of our hat first."
Those special editions follow the coupe, which should be on sale by late October, and the convertible, which should be on sale in March.
I wonder how early they will start to roll out?

id wait for the cobra. it promises to be an amazing machine. ive never been a fan of GT's so id rather wait. funny thing is i paid aboout 25k out the door for my mach... and they had a GT that nobody picked up in 03 so they told me... take a GT "its only 40hp less." same engine... i said 1. you aint gonna sell me a 2 valve GT engine over a 4 valve DOHC engine and second it aint just a different engine.... the shaker, brakes, looks and of course nostagia. They were ready to give me a GT for 17 out the door... but like i said i hate GT's. although the new is a huge improvement... which remains to be seen too.
I spoke to someone at SVT about the power lease and its gonna be a mid 2006 realease. it aint gonna happen before that so dont hold your breath. which is fine with me cuz it gives SVT much more time to perfect the monster which will contend with the Z06 and king of the street... for under $70k

Well, i hope the Cobra or any other "specialty" car for that matter doesn't come early. It will interfere with my "Master Plan" to own one !!

No Blower ..... 5.4L (I still say 450hp will be the target.)
Less weight!

What I want to know is when the SE's are coming out...... if its in the 07MY, then I can go ahead and buy my GT.
The problem is if its a SE debuting at the launch of 06MY for around $30k. Then its going to get agonizing. I almost wish I could get "let off the hook here" because I'm tired of waiting. But I'd kick myself afterwards. Arrgghh. Ford, just tell us for heaven's sake.

Dan I agree,
They don't have to say what kind of car it is, just that an upgraded HP special edition will be coming out around...
I see Ford's point as to keeping people guessing, but there are a lot of us who don't trade in cars every 2 years and would rather wait a year to get the car they want, than having buyer's remorse.
