Will '05 V6 owners get some respect from GT crowd?

I only ask since you stated...
Seemed contradictory since if you didn't care what other people think then why ask.

I don't care what anyone else thinks. I was just wondering what everyone else thinks.
I think all Mustangs are great and they all serve a place at the table; V8's, V6's, and yes, 4 cylinders kept the breed alive for a time, too. I'd much rather see people purchasing the V6 Mustang for a fun to drive coupe than getting Toyota Solara's and Honda Accord Coupes, etc., etc. Respect is the tough word in the question. A car earns repect through the numbers it puts up, or by the modifications an owner makes. With that assumption, the GT will inevitably get more "respect", and the Cobra will get more "respect" than the GT. However, with that said, I will still respect a V6 Mustang over any other V6 on the road!

Those who diss it are just ignorant, and are completly unaware that without the V6 we wouldn't have a GT.
I think that the V6 almost looks more "clean" than the GT.
But tricking out a V6 is ridiculous. Get a GT if you're gonna put money into something.

I think part of the reason why this issue is such a divisive one is because "respect" means different things in different situations and with different people.
For instance, if I see a V6 on the road, I will respect that owner for buying a good-looking car.
However, until a V6 beats me on the road or on the track, I will not respect the car's performance.
I'm buying the Stang for ONE reason: CHEAP PEFORMANCE
So, I have respect for the GT, but the Cobra is not cheap, and the V6 does not peform (admittedly, by my own standard).
So, let's just say I respect those who buy V6s, because I appreciate their contribution to the Stang world, but I don't necessarily respect the car.
Then again, I've had a Trans Am GTA, a 69 Nova drag car, a Caddy w/ a 429 (man, that big car would move), and numerous tricked out Mustangs...so, point being, I don't really like cars that don't perform (by perform, I mean it had better have less than a 14 second 1/4 mile, preferably more like low 13s. Guess I'm just peformance oriented though.
Shoot, my bike will do the 1/4 in the 10s, if that tells you anything about how much I car about performance. It all comes down to personal preference, but don't ask me to respect your preferences more than my own.

i cant believe that 20% of a MUSTANG forum will not respect the V6. Just becaues those people including myself, did not see the reason to spend an extra $4k for just 90 hp. if you can afford that and want that extra hp, go for it, i would. But that is NO reason to not respect a fellow mustang fan.
Grow up

i personally want a GT. that's my preference. but heck will freeze over before i disrespect someone for having a V6. heck, i might even have to get one instaed of a V8 simply for financial reasons but i still think its a great car.
i dont think V6's get the respect they deserve. they keep our favorite car alive. they keep the hobby going. and i'll bet theres quite a few of you (but not all) who started out young with a smaller engined car and moved up to that wonderful V8 later. i dont have a single problem with V6's. and i dont have a problem with people building them into hipo machines either i kno some ppl sed its stupid to put mods on a V6 but what is wrong with wanting a lil more power out of you car? should you not be allowed to enhance performance if you dont have a V8? dont think so. i think its cool that some people have extremely powerful 6bangers out there(like that black one in Mustang Enthusiast). if anything its a lighter, better handling car. i rest my case.
BTW the only way to make me disrespect you, V6 drivers, is if you rice out your car or do something else (something major) to **** me off.

Ya I as well don't get it. And I bought my V6 because I like the V6 better!! Has nothing to do with HP or $$$. I like the grille better, it looks cleaner. I love the car and there is nothing wrong with the 210 horse V6. So I dont need anyone telling me they don't respect the car....a car doesn't get respect...people get respect.
Respect? Hah! That's not what I got when I ran in a rally race. Way back in 1977 the Tech school I was attending put on a race. Not having my own car at the time I show up with my brother in his 4 cylinder Subaru. Well all my fellow students with their muscle Camaros, Impalas, etc. literally bent over pointing & laughing at us, even the 2 teachers who mapped out the race. Well, I was driving, my brother was co-pilot. We finished the race in 2nd place. We had the last laugh.
I have an old black car that has a little ol' V6 in it that gets PLENTY of respect.
There is nothing wrong with owning a V6! :nono:
Whether it's a V6, a GT with the V8 or even the Cobra, the Mustang family must not exclude or treat preferentially either of the models.
They're all good with different purposes. Just like people - some of us are doctors, some are dentists, some are carpenters, some are entertainers and so on. No one is better than the rest although certainly some do certain tasks better than others.
But if we were all the same, think how boring THAT would be!
The same is true of the Mustang crowd. If we were all V8 GT's, it would be pretty boring at car shows, now wouldn't it?
I like 'em all! :worship: Mustangs

Well guys I'm going to have to back Stanger X on this one. I have a 66 Mustang (302) and love it and also 98 Toyota truck to get me to work in. I would love to have a New GT but I can't afford one at all. All I can hope is to get a used V6 sometime in the next year. V6 or V8 doesn't matter to me I just want a 05 mustang.
They are sooo Boss.
They are sooo Boss.
Didnt meant to **** anybody off or offend anyone... ive just had way too much bad luck with the V6. tranny blows twice, couple electrical problems and ford replaced the engine. so i decided to say good riddance. my buddy saw my predicament and told me listen i just got a GT in and ill give it to you for the price i bought it for. no more no less. and the car is worth a lot more. has magnaflow exhaust, cobra rims, flaken tires, steeda intake and air flow sensor. The only draw back is that its red. I really wanted it black. my mach is red and my old V6 was red too!!!
i do love all mustangs.... im just no fan of the fox bodies but thats another thread!!!
much respect and love for anyone who carries the flag of the American icon...

Both the GT and the V6 are great cars IMO. However, I think it just comes down to what your intent is with the car. If you want a car that is reliable and has good mileage, that is just great for everyday drivng, then get the V6 (like I did). If you want a car that has better performance, that not only is a little faster, but also handles well, then get the GT, because it is cheap performance without breaking the bank and you could still drive it day to day. Now if you want a car that is all about performance and nothing else, then by all means, go with the Cobra. However, as someone else previously stated, performance costs money and the Cobra is no where near cheap performance. This is why the Mustang is probably one of the greatest model of cars, because it offers everything for everyone, from the economical V6 to the mighty Cobra and everything else in between, as well as, more extravagant cars on the high end like the Saleen, Roush, etc.
Unfortunately, there are those out there with lesser minds who only think about the performance side of things and wouldn't even look at the 6, because it is just that...A V6! If they have fogotten, the mustang wasn't even supposed to be a high performer when it came out in '64, until Caroll Shelby got involved, then the stang began to get some oats from the automotive community. Heck, even Shelby himself called the mustang a "secretary's car", which is exactly what it was.
From my own perspective, I would definately choose a V8 over a V6 due to performance superiority. Again, as someone else said, the V8 will stomp over a V6 anyday! But not everyone out there can afford a V8 or would want one due to economical reasons. Myself included, would fall into this category, as I currently own a 2003 V6 Mustang that I use as a daily driver to school, work, and to drive my friends around. I admit that when I was in high school, which was not too long ago, I used to bash 6er's, back when I had my POS '87 5.0 LX, just because of what they have. Sure, I was devastated having to sell her, despite her worn out condition, because I needed a new car for college. Also knowing that I wouldn't be able to afford a new GT and settling for a V6 at the time was just as bad, but I have learned to love it for what it is...a Mustang! If I had the choice to go back in time with maybe more money than I had then, I probably would make the same decision. With that said...just enjoy what you have and don't care what anyone else thinks because it is you that is driving the car, not them. They don't know the situation you are in and are just ignorant a**holes with too much pride and money.
I would respect any mustanger no matter what they drive be it a V6, GT, Cobra, Saleen, 4-banger Fox, Mustang II, Boss 302, etc. Just being able to see a cool Mustang coming down the road gets me excited no matter what it is. I plan on getting a new V8 Mustang (hopefully a Cobra, but maybe a GT, depending on my income when finally get out of college) in a couple years and when I do I will still keep my V6 as my daily driver. Even then, I will also still continue to respect V6ers and other Mustang enthusiats no matter what they have.
**Sorry for my lateness on this matter, I just got home from school....also, I apologize if I mght be ranting a bit, but I just gotta put in my $.02 on this**

I like the 6 and the 8 about the same in appearance so they both get my respect. Obviously I would prefer the power of the 8 but as long as the color and interior have been upgraded, they all get the respect. besides, a little engine hopup on the 6 and you can have a screemer/sleeper anyway. Good choice no matter what you get...

Well put Harleybill. Couldn't said it better myself. Speaking of Harleys, I've been riding them for over 25 years. From what I've read here so far, sounds like a few people could learn a lot about 'respect' from the old school biker crowd. V6ers have my respect. 'Nuf said.
