No, it won't hurt anything. Just switch back when it is convenient to do so, running the car a thousand or two miles on the Motorcraft oil won't hurt anything in the long run.

Something similar happened to me a few years ago. My wife took our leased Ford Freestyle in to the dealer for a free one year inspection. I had just changed the oil (with Mobil 1) a couple of months before. The dealership asked if she wanted a free oil change, she called me, I told her to tell them no. She did, but they changed the oil anyways. I was ticked that they replaced my $4/qt M1 with whatever oil they used, but what can you do? Just another reason I avoid dealer service departments like the plague.

lol keith when we had a chevrolet we went to get our oil changed when we got it back we went to oklahoma city which is 30 miles away from chickasha. well we get back home we hear grinding and knocking and were like wtf. So we get out and check the oil but theirs a prob their was no oil in that motor and we drove it 30 miles up and back we took it to chevrolet and they put oil in it but that knocking never gone away or grinding..
its why i do my own oil changes and we gave chevrolet back their pos truck and got a 88 ford bronco lol xD

Motorcraft synthetic blend is what the owners manual says to use, your car is fine.

I would stick with the Motorcraft 5-20 syn blend...that's the way it came from the factory. My Vette came with Mobil 1 syn oil...so I keep that in the Vette. Syn blend is still very good...you really don't need full syn for your engine.

+1 to that,
you should be fine, just change back whenever you can

and as a piece of advice, dont let on that you didnt want her to do it, you'll never hear the end of it, just tell her you appreciate the effort, but that you'll do it

I would worry more about this...

Worry more about the morons changing your oil that the type of oil.

By the way..that was nice of your wife...many women would not even bother...

Give your wife a hug/kiss/flowers and change it back to Mobil 1 within 3000-5000 miles and let her know in the future (but in a really nice way).

The 5W-20 synthetic blend is good for at least 3000-5000 miles so I wouldn't worry about it. This is what the factory uses anyhow, so you're good to go.

I'll bet she has the sign over the sink that says "No Husband Was Ever Shot While Doing The Dishes".

hell no go the other way and tell her that it'll blow the engine but you're going to be cool about it. there's no telling what you can get out of it if you know what i mean.
