Why the clone hate?

I have read the posts:

Certain Shelby GT parts will NOT be available so that you can not replicate the car.
The Bullitt sill plates and badges should not be available so that you can not make a clone.
GT350 stickers should not be sold, because the Mustang does not have 350hp and they will make one eventually.

I have read that most aftermarket companies like Roush, Saleen, Shelby, et al, make their profit from parts, not the vehicles themselves.

If someone wants a Playboy pink Mustang with an aftermarket Roush body kit with the badges, emblems, then Roush will sell it to them. Can they call it a Roush? We live in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

nothing's worse than the guy that has the v6 that put all the GT500 body fascia and shelby emblems on his car so that it looks exactly like a GT500, except when you open the hood, or try to race it, and laugh

If someone wants to take a V6 and put a GT500 body kit on it with all the badges, so be it..... but they better not get ****ed off when someone makes fun of it.

I know people who have made clones of older cars. My one friend in HS took his 67-68 Camaro and made an exact copy of his dads Camaro SS. Yellow paint, badges, stripes, rims/tires and ENGINE.. it was a copy but you could never tell unless he told you.

However a V6 with S281 Saleen badges, bodykit etc.... is just wrong.

if you like the look of the GT500/Saleen/Roush ect then buy the GT500, Saleen or Roush. dont copy. hence why i made my car my own, Shelby CS6 Hood and front Fascia, Saleen Side Skirts, Street Scene Rear valance and Roush Wing. that is how it will be coming out of the body shop

I think the Eleanor Kits that I have seen on Mustang GT's are pretty nice......especially when they're packing a little something extra under the hood.

(shrugging)

It's your car... if you can only afford a V6 but you want the look, and you can drop the $$$ on a clone... why not?

To each his own...I just don't like the passing off a car as something its not like a V6 pretending to be a V8 or more....but if you can take the punishment like a man when your car gets ragged by someone then knock yourself out.....and I am talking more performance wise than exterior looks.....

Ah, my favorite subject to comment on.

I don't really care what anyone does to their car. I will have opinions on what they have done, but unless they are positive, I generally keep them to myself.
There are things I won't do to my car, but if others do it, Fine. Live and let live.
Bottom line is there is nothing we can do about those that make clones and there nothing we can do about those that slam "cloners".

Freedom to do what you want and say what you want.

I don't care, and don't understand why others are so passionate about hating on those who do own or create clones. To each his/her own . . . .

As long as you don't try to market a clone as an original then I don't have a problem with it. Just think how many people would never get to own/drive a 289 or 427 Cobra if there weren't clones! So clones have their place, just be proud of what you have!

I got nothing against clones, but you better have the ***** to back it up. I personally wouldn't make a GT500 clone if I wasn't near the 500hp mark...

Why not? You could always pass yourself off as "too GOOD to race with the likes of YOU" and put your nose in the air.

As long as they don't try and SELL the clone as the real thing I have no objections. Knock yourself out, it's your car.

there is nothing wrong with doing this...im against putting blatant gt500 stripes or cobra badges on the car but its just like a body kit.

and dont say anything about the saleen one how v6's cant put it on their car.. there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. a gt could put those parts on but they dont have a supercharger, it is merely a body kit and there is nothing wrong with it..

And of all dont be predjudiced towards sixers putting pieces on their cars, because theres more gts than us v6's that have gt500 pieces on them.. go to the oem parts section

What I love about our S197's is the "Plain" Pallet. Inside as well as Outside. This car is made to be "Personalized". Period. Cloning is totally different. We have evolved enough through the Mustang year's to realize the difference. Enjoy it now for YOU. Period. If it has always been your dream, but not your budget, then go for it, and like other's have stated be prepared to acknowledge it honestly and openly. Till then, just do it your way. Let your car reflect you, isn't that what it's all about for us anyway.

I hate when little punks lie about their cars. Those Turbo badges are the worst IMO

That makes no sense at all....what if i cant afford a GT500/Saleen/or roush? shoudl i still go buy one? lmao sorry that a lot of us on here dont have a ton of cash to finance a car like that. i say its your car do what you please with it. What if GT500's came with the v6 body and the v6's came with the GT500 bodys on it? would everyone go out and buy the v6 body pieces for their car?
