2005-2009 Mustang Information on The S197 {Gen1}

Just curious to know how many of you are going to wait a couple of years, like me, to get your stang. I am going to wait a couple of years for Ford to work out any kinks with the new model. Also, I figure in a couple of years ford will continue to refine S197 in terms of aesthectics and horsepower. I am not too fond of the back of the new mustang (tail lenses and bumper cover). I am hoping that ford will change the back of S197 to something similar to that of the concept. Also, I am interested in the Special Edition models. Thanks

If you buy an '04 right now at the end of the model, you would already know what "they" are going to do.....no problems?, higher hp., etc. j/k

I'm waiting....but it's a tough wait. I'm totally drawn to the '05 GT, but I'm going to wait to see if the Mach I/Boss is going to come out next year or the year after.

I agree with you Paul. It is a tough wait. But I don't want to kick myself like I did when the Mach came out. I really like the Mach. I am hoping that in 2007 a shelby, Mach, or other SE model comes out. Although I don't think, unfortunately, that we will be seeing a Mach S197 for quite some time. Does anyone think that ford will make some minor body changes in 2 years, e.g., the tail lenses like they did in 1996 :scratch: It is possible because this is an all-new body style.

The problem with the 'wait' is that you are always waiting on the 'bigger better'. LIke buying a PC ... waiting until they have a faster CPU means you will never buy a PC.

I have one on order, but with some of the issues coming up, as reported on this site, I may not take it and wait until I know they are addressed. It will be a tough decision to wait longer, but if I do, then maybe a special edition will be available. I love the current car even without any design changes.

I personally hope that they DO NOT change the tail lights on this model for many years to come. I mean the concept tail lights were pretty cool but I absolutely love the '05 lights. If I would change something, however, like a shaker hood-scoop and a "corral" around the mustang symbol in the grill. I'd also add a few minor things that don't really deserve mentioning.

But worth it. The issues that some are presently experiencing will be corrected in future production runs. Not to mention discounts, rebates, and better financing incentives which enables one to save some bucks or upgrade to a higher performance model.

There are a couple reasons why I am waiting.

1. New body style etc.. waiting for the kinks to be worked out

2. I do not like buying odd year cars. (newer years 80's on been bad for me)

3. Need to pay off current car first.

4. Save for down pmt.

I'm looking to get into a 2006 model. Hoping they put hood scoop on the 2006's and will be able to get bullit rims for the V6's.

I'm waiting but mostly since I want to get something other than a standard GT. I am curious to see what the Cobra is going to look like and the same goes for whatever SE comes out. I have an 02 GT with 38K miles so an 06 or 07 should work well for replacing it.

Like someone said, it is sort of like computers, you could justify waiting and waiting but you have to pull the trigger sometime.

I don't know what problems people are talking about since I have not heard about anything big. Maybe some parts shortages that affect production but that is no big surprise in todays just in time production environment.

Are you talking about a hood scoop for an SE? I doubt they would up the hp on the GT unless there was some real competition to worry about.

I am going to wait for the Cobra or other SE. I will factor all upgrades into my decision(including looks and performance). Don't get me wrong I love the 05 body style. It has peaked my interest like no other Mustang.

Really I would not want any major changes to the body itself(different wheels, ducktail, hood scoop, louver behind the door, and louver on the quarter window).

Performance is probably the biggest factor in my decision as long as the Cobra does not get too high in price.

I'm waiting

1, Its now winter and the car would just sit in the garage

2, I would rather wait untill they work out the typical bugs in the car :bang:

3, I want to be able to pay cash for it or at least most of it.

4, Maybe they will come out with a "special" version in 2006/2007

I got no choice but to wait..........Got a car to pay off and credit report mistakes I didn't know about to clear up...............Looking at Convertible weather before mine comes home..

Even IF I wanted one now, they are not producing her- Manual with IUP...

I agree completely. The bottom line is whether or not you like the '05 right now.....and I LOVE IT. Doesn't matter to me about what might or might not be offered around the horizon, because I wanted and have it right now. I ask all the fence sitters this question: Do you know for sure that you will be breathing when the next model(s) come out???? (I didn't think so). Life is short enough as it is my friends....and it certainly isn't guaranteed. B) Live life to the fullest while it's still around.....and don't bargain the present to try and glimpse the future. 'Nuff said.

Oh please don't get me wrong I LOVE the Mustang as it is. If I was able to I would most likely get the 05, but I have to wait

I have been in love with the new Mustang ever since I saw the pic in a magazine.

I had our truck in at our dealership for repairs and I was looking through a magazine and I saw the first picture of the Mustang concept and I feel in love right then and there. I took the mag. to the main service guy to see if they had seen it. He told that they had heard about it, but had not seen it yet. When i showed him the pic in the mag. he got this big grin on his face and took the mag and showed it to everyone in the dealership. I went to the web site of the magazine as soon as I got home and printed out the picture and have had it hanging on my wall at work ever since.
