Love my S197. It's the 2nd S197 I've owned. I would like to try a different color but I would want to keep my green car.

I agree...
I thought when I saw the S197 in 2004 at the auto show- 'this will be the next 69 mustang' as far as 'classic'... still feel the same way. the 15 has a nicer interior, better motor/trans/suspension, etc- but like years past, there was likely a lot of folks that woulda traded a newer 2000 for a 69 on looks alone...
in 20 years the 05-09 I think will still have very few that dislike the looks, right up there with the 1969.
best car Ive ever had. the 5800 mile road trip with the wife and 4 sons in the two mustangs was one of the best vacations ever... great highway cars for a so-called 'sportscar', I did that trip in a camaro back in 90, and it was like a skateboard compared to the mustangs. love these cars, loved that trip

I do me 2
Hope to keep mine forever!
Well who still loves their S197? And what are you next planned mods?
I do!
Here is the last pic of mine along with one the day I brought it home.. As far as next mod, I would love a department of boost supercharger kit, but it will have to wait until the wife gets a new car, and I don't have to drive mine every day.
How about ya'll?

ford4v429, those are wonderful photos, especially the rainbow shot. Sounds like a wonderful trip with life long memories.
After a Nova Scotia trip this coming summer we plan on heading west again in '17. Route 66 is just too much fun in a Mustang.

Whenever I look at the rear tail light section, the S197 seem to have the appearance of the 70 models, but from the hood and front end sections, the S197 is definitely reminiscent of the 69.. However from the side profile, I see more 65-66 2+2 fastback with it's separate A and B pillars and horizontal decklid, where as the 69 has the full fastback/sportsroof which slopes at a 90 degree angle completely into the rear decklid..
Therefore from just the side profile, the S197 appears to share very little in common with the 69 from a visual point of view, but instead seems to have more in common with the classic 65-66 2+2 body style..
At any rate, what I love most about the S197, is that Ford re-captured the spirit of the Mustang's original pony car roots while at the same time brought it into the 21st century with it's own unique contemporary styling which is exactly why the S197 is so special as in it's own right to begin with
