It's not a mixed bag. You're not getting to drive it now and if you sell someone else gets a great car. Drive that car man....enjoy it while you can. You might not be here to sell it in 5 years. Then all you got is bag of s&%$.

I'll definitely drive it more often. But I'll still avoid unnecessary driving. I just turned down a job that would had put 18,000 miles a year on the car, and the pay wasn't worth it.

 

LOL...Great. I just think cars like Mustang's are meant to be enjoyed by driving them. Mine is two years old and has a little over 18,000. So I'm not burning the wheels off, but I do drive it often. I was looking at AutoTrader for a used Mustang the other day and was surprised by the number of cars with huge mileage figures. Makes you wonder where those cars have been.

 

well said, why buy a car to say. "i own a mustang" a true mustang lover buys it to drive it not wonder about resale

 

and what is your plan for this??? If you aren't driving it . . .. . is this an investment? Here is my "expert" prediction on future value (if you can hold back and not enjoy your 300HP!):

10 years - 2019 - $19K
20 years - 2029 - $17K
30 years - 2039 - $28K
40 years - 2049 - $54K
50 years - 2059 - $80K
60 years - 2069 - $160K . . .. . that sounds like alot, but that same $30K "invested" in the stock market (assume 7%) after 60 years would be $1.6 million!

Bought my 07 GT/CS in september of 2007 and I just past 47k

 

I bought my GT/CS is January 08 and it has 4,400 miles........

 

Investments aren't all financial.

Don't worry Tim, there are a few of us who understand why you're doing it.

 

I'd drive ours more, but here in Kansas, thy put some really corrosive stuff down on the roads to melt the snow and ice. I just don't want that getting into the seams, cracks and wee places of the Stang. Heck, the wife even told me to leave it in the garage one day, when I actually could've driven it. I'm not going to upset the apple cart. The fact the wife likes the car is a plus for me.

 

To make another comparison...A 18 y/o virgin is great but a 40 y/o virgin is a old maid

i go back and forth on this driving/not driving thing. i got the 06 knowing that i will keep it mostly in the garage and for car shows. the 03 has a ton of aftermarket stuff on it that i usually do not put on cars but since it was used, i figured to mod a little. both are setting in the garage until spring. i guess its the fact of not wanting to get the thing dirty. the 06 has seen rain 3 times and one was when i picked it up from the dealer. if i ever get married and have kids, then they will have something from the past, if they want. i guess ill be the 70 year old guy at a car show who still has his mustang since the turn of the century. cars dont last forever but i dont mind the 06 setting and looking pretty in the sun in the summer. hopefully i can afford a new 2011 or 2012 after the 06 is paid. then the 03 will have to set outside in the weather....

 

well, I kinda DO enjoy the car, as its identical to the one I do drive (the 06 has 32k miles so far)- and I hope to 'use up 100%' of that 06 if the good Lord gives me enough years here

Same car/same payment, just extended a couple more years, so really dont 'miss' the 09, and its not really changed the budget any...its a investment I guess, but not in dollars- investment in still having my favorite car for the day the 06 is no more, if that makes any sense...and if the 06 outlasts me, the wife/kids will have a pretty nice mustang to either use or unload, dont think it will be that much of a loss.

speaking of losses, I got the 09 late in 08, january 09 it still weighed the same, looked the same, still started, sounded good...even though the bank/stock implosion changed dollars to pennies for a lot of folks, tangible items didnt seem to notice. I'm very pessimistic about 'investing' in stocks as right or wrong, to me its still gambling- IMO currency is a big gamble too, heck they just printed what, a couple trillion out of nothing? Its all pretend/hype driven, but a pound of steel is always still a pound of steel, wether thats worth a penny or a million dollars, it has nothing to do with the steel, just when it was sold. IMO a safe investment would be in watching your health, education/tools that can help earn a living, untaxed tangible things in life that you undoubtedly will want/need later on...anything else is just speculation- but thats just one opinion

 

I have a 07 I took delivery May of 07 and just hit 22k and still having a blast driving my GT/CS

 

Heck Tim, I'd be much better off today if 2 years ago I would've pulled my money out of my 401K and instead invested in assault rifles and ammunition.

 

I'd always heard booze and bullets were always safe monetary investments in hard times...

 

Some of you guys need to get these things out of the garage and get to rippin up the roads. My DD 07 has just under 28k now and have no plans to minimize the the driving.

 

My 08 GT/CS has 4,400 miles on it. I live in Michigan and the car is stored for 5 months a year. Every spring it is like getting a new car again when I get it out of storage. I don't do it for an investment, I do it to keep my Stang looking like showroom new.
