If they offer plant tours and you know what day "YOUR" car is being built, can you take possesion of it at the end of the line (avoid those transportation desitation fees)
I wish they would let you do that....

it would be worth the trip to detroit to get the car

I know at one point you could do the same thing with a viper...

Mustangs have a much higher volume, so I doubt it would ever be done.

As far as I know the Corvette doesn't allow delivery at the end of the line either. Museum delivery is offered as an additional cost option, but the car still has to be transported to a specific dealer to be serviced and you then take delivery off the Corvette museum floor. It does include a tour of the Corvette assembly line.

I think Saturn used to allow it on their plant tours too.

Went to the Rouge plant tour back in May... I think everyone was out to lunch... didn't see one F 150 being built

EleanorsMine:

I sent you an email, but not sure if it went through. The 05 is coming to Atlanta on August 23rd. Not sure of the venue yet, but that's alot closer than NY.

I keep seeing posts on where the 2005 Mustang has been but not where it's going to be. The Pony drive is over and I was wonder if anyone had some dates and places where it can be seen it in the future.
I see them on a weekly basis......I live on 22 mile practically.....and I take mound to 32 and then dequinder to 34. 34 mile is a ford proving grounds.

anyways I take a telescope of binoculars up there and just chill for like awhile and watch.......no one every comes by.....rather a quaint place to take my mind off things.

It doesn't go to a dealer, it is pulled and given a once over before being shipped to the museum across the street where they do the final prep work for display. You still pay the destination fee because of a teamsters agreement -I think . The car is allocated to your selling dealer, but never shipped there nor the dealer down the road from the plant.

With helping my wife finish school, I've had to change my car purchase, Had an order w/ Kerbeck because they had the allocation for when I wanted to do a museum delivery for a C6.

EleanorsMine, & 2005muzzy, You will have to go see the car where ever it shows up at, as long as it's reasonable to do so!!!!!!! I drove 90 miles to see it in Chicago on the 4th. That is where I got the info on where it was going next CA, then NY(No spacific info for NY sorry). Keep checking here, that's how I found out about Chicago.

I reached the end of the internet looking for a schedule for this:

The "year of the car" roadshow comes to Orlando today, where all three models will be on display at Waterford Lakes Town Center, 413 N. Alafaya Trail, from 5 to 9 p.m.

The Mustang is the first all-new model since 1979, with styling reminiscent of the 1967-1970 version. Power comes from a 4.0-liter, 200-horsepower V-6, or a 4.6-liter, 300-horsepower V-8.

That or Alabammy just isn't important to ford. In a land where every 4th car is a mustang of some type. GRR! I am so impatient, I am becoming hard to live with.

hmmmm, 05 at Galpin Ford....Excelent! now just need to find out when.

I am trying to find out now from the Mustang Club website. I'll post back if I find anything.
Thanx for checking...keep us Socal's informed! [/b][/quote]
As of now, there is no set date. I have talked with the Mustang Owner's Club of California, and they said check on the site for the date when we know it. Well, a month later, no date. I e-mailed Galpin Ford, and NEVER got a response. I'll call them tomorrow.

I keep hoping it will show up to the local Mustang show here in Utah next month.

A guy can dream, can't he?

It's illegal for a manufacturer to sell a car except through an authorized dealer....

so yes, no matter how you get it, it will get the "destination" charge and be officially (on the books) sold through a specific dealer....

If manufacturers could sell you a car directly, we'd all be having our cars ordered and delivered straight from the factory. It's just not possible.

There's a Torch Red on at the Molson Indy in Vancouver right now. I would go see it, but I don't wanna pay for a ticket just to see the car when I have no real interest in the race.
