Where to buy Mobile1 5W20 Extended Performance
Where to buy Mobile1 5W20 Extended Performance
Its spring time again coming soon and I am getting ready to take my car out of the storage. The first thing is the oil change.
I use Mobil 5W20 EP. Usually I buy it at Walmart, but this time I went 3 different Walmarts around me and they are out of stock and I was able to buy only 3 bottles left in one store.
Mobil 1 web site shows only Walmart carries 5W20 Extended Performance. I am confused what to do now.
Can I mix EP 5W20 with regular 5W20? Regular ones are all over the places.

I would think you could mix it, however you may want to change it eariler then the EP sugests. I would just go with all of the regular (I use regular mobil 1 and change ever 5k miles) if you can not find enough EP. Make sure you get a long lasting filter if you plan on going with all EP, like the mobil one EP filter.

Just use regular Mobil1, forget about that overpriced EP stuff. It has consistently shown in analysis that it really isn't any better than the standard Mobil1, and has actually shown itself to be not as good in some instances.
I have actually seen some cases where the regular M1 held up better for extended use than the EP stuff. Strange but true.
Anyway, yes you can mix any oil without any trouble. Mobil1 + Dino Supertech is just fine, as is any other combo. Oils have to be compatible with each other to carry the API starburst on the label.

The regular Mobil1 will go 12 months no problem. The biggest enemy of oil is not time, but use.
When you hear "3 months or 3K miles" the 3 months part is assuming you use the car in a normal manner...i.e. drive it every day, but only very short trips putting on very little miles. If your car is a weekender and only gets driven once or twice a week, you will have no problem.
If you drive the car every day, and still only manage to put on 5K a year, you should probably still be ok as long as you get it good and hot once a week with a drive over 30 minutes.

I tried, only Walmart carries EP 5W20, others carry just the regular one...and all Walmarts around me are out of stock....
