Whatta ya think? I've purchased all three of my Mustangs at the end of a model year with either a huge rebate (Mach 1) or 0% financing (Cobra and GT). But Ford not including the Mustang in any of their current promos is a bummer. Will we see higher inventories and more eager dealers by the end of this model year?

 

IMHO, as soon as we are in a recession, which I think is 3-6 months from now.

That's how our economy works, like an analog signal. We have been up for a while so it's only the nature of how it will work out soon.
That's how I see it.

 

Maybe Ford should tear a page from the Harley strategy book and build only enough to keep price and resale value high.

 

The economy shows no short or long term indications of slowing down. In fact inflation is starting to heat up a bit. If it weren't for Katrina and higher gas prices the economy might be inflating out of the comfort zone. I think the gas prices will effectively cause people to cut back on spending in the very near short term. Long term gas will stablize and/or go lower easing peoples minds.

All indicators show decent growth at least through the 1st half of 2006.

To answer your question in my opinion is at least through the '06 model year. This car is still hot and the dealers can't keep on the shelf. When the '07's start coming out in a year any inventories will be discounted. There won't be a lot though.

Katrina is a big shot in the arm to the economy.....the construction industry plays a major role in how healthy we are.

I don't know where you are from, but I have a small family owned business, and business has been off since the beginning of the year here in NJ. I deal with alot of companies and they all have been slower this year.

 

There hasn't been a recession since Reagan left office. At least not for those that take advantage of and are used to hand outs.

Supply should exceed demand as previously mentioned, 3 - 6 months. It is very possible we will see rebates on the Mustang next summer, IMO.

 

Katrina is going to cost us billions of dollars which our government will have to borrow. Someones gonna have to pay the bill? (you & I). It's also still huricane season and lets not forget about our eastern trainned murderers who want to kill all the infidels. Freedom is not free.

New GT's still are in short supply around here. 05's are all gone but some 06's are available but demand a premium. You can get 06 V-6's here at about $500 over invoice at a couple of dealers. I wouldn't expect to see GT's being marked down for a loooong time.

Well the answer I get from reading all of the diversified opinons above is who knows?, hopefully soon. At least it looks like the craziness is starting to wane. A dealorship close by had a 2005 yellow FT with 5000 miles on it selling for 36,000. (no extra options, stock) During their big sale they marked it down to 33,000, that was almost 3 months ago, it is still sitting on the lot.....SANE PEOPLE UNITE....it looks that perhaps we are at least turning a corner on the insane prices that a dealor can charge.. I hope so... :angry:

 

My take:

GT=will continue to get top dollar (least msrp)
V6=lots around,so wouldn't pay much over 500-1000 over invoice
Economy=beats me (watch cramers mad money) get rich :-)

President Bush=right getting rid of saddam (even if no wmd)...should not have relied on local and states for katrina (even if he didnt want to step on any toes) he should have taken more control...still would vote for him if i could...

 

Well, just a guess but I think this coming May/June - if it is going to happen.

 

Dont' be afraid to negotiate at least 500 UNDER invoice on a V6. Advertized invoice still includes lots of dealer profit. Plus, when you sit down to go through the F&I process, they always tack on $269 -- $499 admin fee. Negotiating $500 -- 800 UNDER advertized invoice is a good hedge when its time to sit down in the little room w/ the F&I folks....
