On the ride home today, I thought it would be interesting to get a feel for just how hard people are pushing their pedals by the reading on their MPG computers.

My GT vert ran in the mid-14's with the first tank of gas. But, I've got a little of it out of my system (and the yellow has me scared the cops will spot me before I spot them) and now I'm in the low 15's. Of course, here in Florida, I keep the a/c running and the top down all the time.

Post your MPG here.

My first couple of tanks were 15-16mpg but, my last fill up had me at 17.8mpg so it's getting better. I drive about 60/40 city/hwy. It's definitely alot better than my truck which was 12-13mpg.

I am about 50/50, city/highway and if I am light on the throttle I can average in the high 18's, but usually I'm in the high 17's to low 18's. I reset everything each time I fill up. I have reset while on the highway a couple of times just to see and was averaging about 24 mpg @ 80 mph over about 20-30 mile stretchs.

My GT's first tank was about 14.5, but I figured it must have been idling a lot at the dealer during PDI, prep, and when I returned it to have the rail dust removed.

I don't reset after every fill up, because the MPGs per tank will vary significantly depending upon the type of driving for that short period of time. I believe that it is much more meaningful information to track what I am getting with the car, over time.

I reset the info / message center at 156 miles, am now at about 1360, so for the last 1200 miles I am averaging 19.7 mpg with this car, mostly city driving, probably a 70/30 split. But most of the highway runs are only about 7 miles at a time, from home to work early in the morning. The return trip is more traffic / more stop and go.

This is better than the 17.1 mpg I averaged in the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee for 25,000 miles or so.

I'll update later to report if the K&N air filter (installed about 80 miles ago) helps, hurts, or has no effect. So far it looks like no effect at all.

Maybe the engine computer needs time to adjust to all that extra air flow??

I'm around 17.5 to 19.5 depending on how I'm driving. I've noticed also the fuel I choose makes a difference. Don't know if it is just me but I do notice. If I fill with Shell, my MPG drops a bit. I've been using a Marathon gas station and it's been getting me better MPG.

Lowest I've gotten was about 17, but usually average closer to 19 in the city.

I reset once it for a day at the track... had the MPG down to about 11 or 12 I think. Highest I ever had it was 25.7 after a 40 mile trip on a straight, empty highway.

Anyone see any difference in using the "Corn Gas" (I forgot it’s real name) or using full synthetic oil?

My driving is mostly city (barely ever highway), and I'm averaging 18 mpg. Last time I drove a full tank on the highway, I got 22.

I've usually been doing 17-20 on average. I have a 16 mile drive to work, mix of city and highway driving. I've also been driving nicely so that the red color won't attract negative attention from the law. I save my aggressive driving for the dragstrip.

Sadness - 500 miles in and still averaging 15.6. Very little highway driving and only short trips in general. Some days I hit the gas a little heavier than others, but for the most part I've been watching that little MPG meter like a hawk, trying to squeeze every last bit out.

The lowest avg ive had on a tank so far was 21.5mpg. That was my 2nd tank (first fill up) which including doin about 7 runs at the local drag strip. The best mpg so far was on my recent road trip to san fransisco, got 27.5, 26, 27, and 29mpg on each of my fillups.

Okay, For a couple of days now I'm driving like an old lady in the city and 70-80 mph on the highway (hope no cops are on the forum) and still getting 15-16 mpg on my 3rd tank of gas. Something is wrong. I thought it was just a case of lead foot. But, a couple of days slowing it down hasn't made a dent.

I've got to bring it back to the dealer for some minor scratches on the steering wheel that they promised to fix when I took delivery. I'll have it checked then. I just hope whatever it is they do to fix it doesn't affect the power - the car hauls serious booty!

BustedNissan, are you doing anything to get yours checked out?
