What's going on with the gauge cluster?
Found these over at AllFordMustangs.com ....
So far I think we have been seeing a 140 mph dash on the cars. This one looks like it goes to 200. Is it KPH? 200 KPH is equal to what if converted to mph? Around 125mph or so? I have no clue?

I guess it would be too cluttered to go up to 240... I guess that is my only gripe about the IP. Because the sweep is only 180 degrees all the numbers are bunched too close together IMO. I think they should have made the sweep larger so the numbers were clearer.

Too close?? They look okay to me. 120kph is at about 1:00. That is pretty good IMO.
I also don't want a speedo that goes to 240kph. What is the point? I'm not going to go that fast and it would result in the use of only 25% of the gauge most of the time.
That's what I've read right here on the board. Some kind of new federal vehicle safety law goes into effect in 2006 which outlaws three-spoke steering wheels (isn't that right?). Actually to be honest I never heard to full story, only that the awesome three-spoker won't be around anymore after MY 2005. stinks...I love a classic three-spoke...
Anyone have the details on the steering wheel thing? Like a link to the NTSB or whoever makes the rules?

its a safety thing thats being implemented for the '06 MY. every vehicle has to have 4 spoke steering wheels and a new type of air bag. dont ask me why they need to have the forth spoke because i havent a clue but we discussed this b4, i just forgot until tonight.
so what i mean is see the '05 steering wheel has a total of 3 spokes from the sterring collum out to the wheel itself. that will be changed to a 4 spoke design so it will prob look very similar to the F-150's steering wheel...

heres the thread about it.

Thanks for the explanation, WaveMan. This is one safety rule whose practical benefit eludes me. I just hope Ford finds a way to keep the circular hub and horn button.
Of course one could always tack on one's own steering wheel...like say a 2005 OEM part...
Edit: Nevermind, just read the whole thread and understand the spoke change is for airbag clearance. Peh...

yah but in the US dont u guys have to get ur vehicles checked every year to make sure they pase the safety laws or something? i read that somewheres on here b4... so i dont know if u guys would be able too. here in Canada i know we dont so we would be fine to install a 3 spoke.
oh and that might just be for u guys in the US, not here in Canada. nothing has been mentioned here about it yet so there might still be factory 3 spokes after 2006. they might just be for Canadians since Canadian cars are modified forms of Americans cars to meet our standards of everything.
all i know for a fact is that when i get another Stang again and it doesnt have s 3 spoke... one sure as heck is going in. i hate 4 spoke steering wheels on sports cars and muscle cars... its just not right IMO.

yeah i dont know how they check the steering wheels. or if the do. dont really see what the big deal is. just the gov't way of wasting money. it was prob som 50million dollar research study done to show the 4 spoke was 1% safer. man the shifter looks just like the one in the Mazda 6
I agree with you; I much prefer a tri-spoke wheel. As for vehicle inspections, it depends where you live. In the state of Florida, they only inspect your vehicle when you first register it in the state...and by "inspect," I mean they come out of the office, look at it for three seconds, and hand you your plate.
It's incredibly lax in this state. Now, in California or New York, you'd probably have a much harder time.
However, this new federal regulation sounds like something that only applies to manufacturers. For example, the fed can't require people to retrofit any car on the road with side airbags. I think the manufacturers have to design new vehicles to this standard, but if I'm right, individual users don't necessarily have to keep things that way. There are guidelines regarding steering wheels that must be obeyed even when custom wheels are put on, though, but they're real general...stuff like "the wheel must be made up of a complete circle" and stuff like that. (stinks if you're trying to put a Knight Rider replica together, though. The aircraft-like steering yoke is illegal to have on the car if you're driving on public roads.)

i still think tho that it might be one of those things that only applies to the US and not to Canada too... who knows we will just have to wait and find out ourselves when we see the first SE's roll into dealers showrooms or at autoshows... B)
K.I.T.T. off of Knight Rider was an awsome car
, which reminds me they are making that into a movie
i for one cannot wait
Yeah, I heard about the Knight Rider movie! I also heard production has stalled on it...have to see where that goes.
Always used to be a big KR head myself. I bought an '89 Firebird Formula 350 to turn into a KITT replica. I'm a major geek...

well David Hassilhof was on On Air w/ Ryan Seancrest on Fox one day and he said production stalled on it for a bit because the production company wanted K.I.T.T. to not talk just be a regular car. that of coarse pissed off fans of the show as well as David so they dropped the company and got another company to make it. that was back in May i think and David said that the new company they got loved KR and they said no matter what K.I.T.T. had to speak like in the series so K.I.T.T. will be.
theres a guy here in Edmonton that has a K.I.T.T. replica
i wish i had the money to get it off him, because the car owns.
